Is Dominik Mysterio The Next WWE World Heavyweight Champion?

The WWE universe may not see it coming, but the chances of a Dominik Mysterio world heavyweight title run continue to increase with every week that passes. It isn’t obvious, but the WWE injected the idea a few weeks back in a promo in which Mysterio cleverly made it into everything. As the tension within the Judgement Day continues between Mysterio and Finn Balor, the conversation of Mysterio getting a title run becomes more interesting.

Is Saturday Night’s Main Event HW Title Match The Beginning of the Dominik Mysterio Run?

Saturday Night’s triple threat match between Gunther, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest has nothing to do with Mysterio, but knowing how the 27-year-old has beefed with Balor the last few weeks, this may be where it all begins. There is a good chance that Gunther drops the title, but the question becomes who should he drop it to? Mysterio is going to come and interfere in the match, hoping to help Balor out, but instead, he will hurt him accidentally, costing him the match and the opportunity to become a world heavyweight champion. Balor would lose his mind after the match, raising tension between the two stars to an all-time high. The other idea is that Balor could win the title with the help of Mysterio, but when he asks for a title match in the future, Balor denies Mysterio, forcing the son of a legend (Rey Mysterio) to find another way and that’s winning the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Mysterio would end up holding on to the briefcase up to WrestleMania with Balor constantly looking over his shoulder. Mysterio would save his briefcase and cash it in at Mania like Priest did the year before. This would then begin the title heel run for Mysterio, which could be one for the history books.

Will a Dominik Mysterio Title Run Get Over With The WWE Universe?

That’s the million-dollar question. The WWE brain trust would not float the idea of Mysterio as a world heavyweight champion without doing their due diligence. Mysterio has so much heel heat that a title run would be the perfect way to transition him from a star to a superstar. He is more than ready to take the reins and is the kind of fresh start the WWE can benefit from heading into the new year. Will the WWE make such a bold move to make Mysterio the champion? Only time will tell, but as they say in the business, never say never. A long time ago, they weren’t sure about a title run for Seth Rollins, and look how that turned out? Saturday Night’s Main Event should be very interesting as we head towards 2025.
