When WWE announced the signing of former AEW star Jade Cargill, it sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling industry. Many were surprised when reports first surfaced claiming that Cargill was preparing for her AEW exit. WWE has formally introduced Cargill on its programming, making her out to be a big deal.
Cargill’s decision to leave AEW caught many people off guard, given the huge undefeated push she received under Tony Khan’s company. Jade has told reporters that there are no hard feelings with AEW, but she simply wanted to take her career to new heights.
Cargill made her WWE debut at Fastlane on October 7, 2023. She shook hands with WWE’s chief content officer Paul Levesque, known to fans as “Triple H.” In the following weeks, Cargill had face-to-face run-ins with the likes of Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
WWE’s goal with Jade Cargill’s introduction is clear. The company wants to let fans know that Cargill is a big deal and already on the level of WWE’s best female talent. During entrances for the fatal five-way match for the World Women’s Championship, play-by-play commentator Michael Cole mentioned Cargill on air, wondering where she’ll fit in the title picture.
It’s become obvious that WWE has big plans for Jade Cargill, and I agree with what they’re doing. While there are certainly WWE fans who know who Jade is, there are others who are seeing her for the first time. For the casual fans, I believe WWE has done a strong job of trying to convince them that Cargill is a serious threat in the division. Since fans have already seen her with the likes of “Triple H,” Charlotte, and Becky Lynch, her debut match is sure to garner attention, and if she can deliver in the ring and on the mic, she’s destined for the top of the mountain.
