Although there won’t be a title on the line, Saturday’s main event at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, UK, has plenty at stake as the loser may have to consider retirement soon. 31-year-old junior welterweight Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) will face 35-year-old and former WBC champion Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) in a scheduled 12-round bout.

This will be the second fight in 2024 for Catterall, who finally avenged his February 2022 loss to Josh Taylor by beating him in May by unanimous decision. A win for Catterall puts him in a prime position at another world title or a big fight against Teofimo Lopez, Subriel Matias, and Liam Paro, among others.

At 35 and not having fought in ten months, it is a hard hill to climb for Prograis, who lost by unanimous decision in December against Devin Haney. Prograis knows that the end of his career is coming up fast, which is why his deal with Matchroom comes with future co-promotions for fighters he is signing under his imprint. It’s hard to see Prograis overcome father time and inactivity to beat Catterall, but on Saturday, he will have the opportunity to prove the oddsmakers wrong.
