Former UFC superstar Conor McGregor (22-6, 19 KOs) has drawn the first blood. His support for MMA fighter Mike Perry (0-1), ahead of his fight against ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs), certainly seems to have rubbed the YouTuber turned boxer the wrong way. As the bad blood between the duo intensifies, he has vowed to tank the reputation of the Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship which McGregor co-owns.
Paul was at the official press conference for his fight against Perry. During the event, the host, Ariel Helwani, turned Paul’s attention to McGregor’s open support for Perry and also highlighted the fact that ‘Notorious’ even referred to him as “little dweeb.”
“First of all, he’s big upping the BKFC, but you’re going to see what I did to their best fighter on Saturday night. I’m going to embarrass their whole entire league,” he said. Notably, Perry is also an active member of the BKFC. He further went on to call Perry a “brawler” who lacks any skill as a fighter. Paul then issued a challenge to McGregor and even accused him of avoiding a fight with him.
“Once I knock out Mike Perry, Conor McGregor, let’s run it, but you won’t do it because you know what’s going to happen. You saw what I did to Nate Diaz, who you went toe-to-toe with,” he said. “So, Conor McGregor, lay off the cocaine, get in the gym and start winning fights and then maybe we can have a conversation.”
“Disrespectful Punk”
Paul’s words about the BKFC did not sit well with Perry. Addressing Paul’s statements, he revealed that he was the co-owner of the promotion long before McGregor.
“He’s a disrespectful punk. Those men and women fight for their families over there. They put it all on the line, and they get in that ring, and they put on shows for the fans,” he said. “Conor said my name was self-proclaimed, but they gave me the title of ‘King of Violence,’ and my tequila is going to be better than his whiskey when that comes out.”
