Jake Paul continues his quest to prove he’s serious about the sweet science, as he’ll go one-on-one with 12-fight boxing veteran Andre August. It’s a big chance for August to play spoiler, and if he can do so in impressive fashion, it could net him more lucrative fights down the road, which the 35-year-old surely wouldn’t mind at this stage of his career.
Paul vs. August will emanate from the Caribe Royale Orlando in the state of Florida on Friday (December 15). When this matchup was announced, it came as a surprise to fans. “The Problem Child” explained that while August isn’t a known name, this fight needed to happen to prove he’s serious about being a pro boxer rather than a social media exhibition entertainer.
Like Paul, August only has one loss on his pro record. You’ll have to go back to 2018 to find August’s last defeat. Can he pull off a big upset over Paul in Orlando?

One thing seems apparent when you watch film of Andre August’s past fights: his earlier opponents weren’t very good. When August had success, his opponent was often slow and stationary. He certainly hasn’t faced anyone as big as Paul or anyone who packs as much punching power as he does.
Before his near-four-year hiatus from the sport of boxing, August made use of his head movement and had some combinations but was sloppy at times. In his return fight against Brandon Martin, August moved forward and had some good body shots, but Martin would sometimes clip him with the right hand.
August’s forward pressure will probably be the key for him to give Jake problems in this fight. If you can take away the distance from Paul and make it a dog fight, it’s territory he isn’t familiar with. August has moved forward on his opposition, but against someone with Paul’s size and punching power, it makes it tough for me to see an upset here.
August will shell up throughout the fight once he feels Jake’s power. It could lead to a rather lackluster fight, with Paul not being able to break through August’s guard enough to finish him and August just being in survival mode. Give me Jake Paul via unanimous decision in an eight-round fight.
