Jared Anderson vs Ryad Merhy Fight Results: Anderson Scores UD

In what was ten rounds of uneventful heavyweight boxing, Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson (17-0, 15 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Ryad Merhy (32-3, 26 KOs). The judges scored this one 100-90,100-90, 99-91 for Anderson. It was a painful fight to watch as Anderson dominated the fight from the opening bell. Merhy did not try to fight and allowed Anderson to do whatever he wanted in the ring.

Anderson dominated the first round with hard feints, leading to some big 1-2 punches landing down the middle. Merhy covered up most of the round and did not land anything significant.

The rest of the fight would see Anderson throwing punches and Merhy covering up and countering only a few times. The fight was so bad that most of the time, the broadcast commentators were talking up the rest of the fights from May to July while reading out loud text messages they were receiving. Anderson tried to make the fight into something entertaining, but Merhy was just there to survive.

The broadcast also mentioned that the plan for Anderson is to fight for a title in 2026 with him continuing to step up in fights until then. That will give time for the old guard in the division to retire. Hopefully, Anderson can stay out of trouble outside of the ring so he can reach the title shot he desires.

Efe Ajagba Scores Razor Thin Split Decision Victory in Texas

Efe Ajagba(20-1, 14 KOs) escapes Corpus Christi, TX, with a narrow, split decision victory over Guido “The Gladiator” Vianello (12-2-1, 10 KOs). The judges saw this one: 96-94 (Vianello), 96-94 (Ajagba) and 96-94 (Ajagba). The fight would see the loser off Top Rank so there was a lot at stake as Ajagba was able to earn the decision and remain with the promotional company.

Vianello used his footwork to set up his shots in the first round. Two short right hands from Vianello buzzed Ajagba, who couldn’t find his rhythm and highlighted the first round’s action. Vianello landed a short right hand that had Ajagba hurt badly towards the end of the second round. Ajagba was so hurt that he walked back to the wrong corner after the round was over.

Vianello hurt Ajagba again in the third round, but Ajagba returned with a huge body shot that hurt Vianello. There was a lot of back-and-forth action as both fighters had their moments. Ajagba’s left uppercut nearly lifted Vianello off the canvas in the fourth round. Ajagba dominated the round with his body punching as Vianello kept with his head-hunting attack.

Ajagba kept pressuring Vianello in the fifth round and landed big uppercuts to the body, which made Vianello take deep breaths. Both fighters slowed down in the sixth round after an offense-filled round one through five. Ajagba kept Vianello guessing in the seventh round as he was changing the levels of his punches from a left stab jab to the body to a right uppercut that couldn’t miss.

In the eighth round, Ajagba turned southpaw, which confused Vianello and prevented him from landing much offense. Vianello turned up his offense in rounds nine and ten, which made the decision close.

Robson Conceição Scores 7th Round TKO To Open Up ESPN Card

Robson Conceição (18-2-1, 9 KOs) scored a dominant seventh-round TKO victory over Jose Guardado (15-2-1, 5 KOs) to open up the ESPN telecast of the fight card in Corpus Christi, TX. A left hook to the liver is what sent Guardado down for the first knockdown of the fight. When Conceicao went down to the body again, Guardado couldn’t help but go down again, with the referee jumping in and stopping the fight.

Conceicao came out aggressively in the first round with his left jab and three-punch combinations. Guardado looked for openings but couldn’t get through. Guardado came out aggressive in the second round, but it was short-lived as Conceicao used his quick counter-punching abilities to keep Guardado honest.

Conceicao controlled the third round with his left jab, keeping the fight at mid-range and not allowing Gaurdado to get inside. It was more of the same in rounds four through six as Conceicao dominated behind the left jab while using his feints to land some big left hooks.

In the seventh round, Conceicao focused more on the body, and when he landed that left hook, Guardado was all but done. He got back up but was met with a barrage of punches afterward. With Saturday night’s TKO victory, Conceicao now jumps back into the super featherweight title picture.
