Joseph Parker (33-3, 23 KOs) ruined the plans of a super fight in March by beating Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) by unanimous decision. The judges saw this one 118-111, 118-110 & 120-108. It was an exciting fight, but that is what it took for Parker to come out of there with the victory.

In the first round, there weren’t many punches thrown by both men, but the best punch of the round was landed by Parker, who threw an overhand right. Wilder was just moving around and feinting. Parker kept his distance in the second round and used smart movement to land an overhand right without committing too much to where he was vulnerable.
Parker began to land harder overhand rights in the third round, which forced Wilder to move back a few times and lay on the ropes. Parker continued to increase his pressure, which resulted in more right hands landing on the side of Wilder’s head during the fourth round.
The fifth round saw more of Parker bringing the pressure and forcing Wilder back, which is something he learned from his good friend Tyson Fury. Wilder increased his punch output in the sixth round, but Parker kept landing the more effective punches.

Wilder was stunned in the seventh round by a Parker right hand, and it almost led to the referee stopping the fight, but Wilder survived. The bell saved Wilder in the eighth round, and his legs looked horrible. Rounds nine through twelve were more of Parker bringing the fight to Wilder and forcing The Bronze Bomber to become hesitant.
Although everyone knew Parker had won the fight, it was still up to the judges, and they were all in agreement, which was that Parker won the fight unanimously. After the fight, Parker stated, “I’m back,” while Wilder was unsure about his future in the sport. Who will Parker face next, and will we see Wilder back in the ring? These questions are left to be answered as we head into the new year.
