Katie Taylor: ‘The One Fight I Really, Really Want Is At Croke Park’

Women’s undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor conducts an in-depth interview with her promotional company, Matchroom Sport, for the first time since earning a unanimous decision victory over Amanda Serrano in July.

Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) was recently a guest on the second episode of Matchroom Boxing’s new podcast Flash Knockdown. Although she is known to be quiet and reserved, Taylor opened up a bit on her trilogy with Serrano and what it meant for not only her legacy but also the history of women’s boxing.

“It was a great way to cap off the trilogy,” Taylor said on Flash Knockdown.” I knew I had the potential and ability to make it easier for myself; I’m so glad I showed that with my boxing skills. It wasn’t a war this time; I came out unscathed.

“My name will be embedded with Amanda’s [Serrano] forever. They have been three history-making fights. I have the utmost respect for her.”

Later on in the interview, Taylor is asked about her future, and although many insiders have speculated that the 39-year-old from Bray, Ireland, will be retiring soon, there is one venue that is still on her bucket list before she rides out into the sunset for good.

“The one fight I really, really want is at Croke Park. That would top off my career so well. There’s been so much talk over the past few years, but I’m still clinging onto the hope that one day I can fight there; it would be the icing on the cake for me.”

The fight that makes the most sense for Taylor next, if she wants to leave the sport on a high note, would be the trilogy with Chantelle Cameron (21-1, 8 KOs). Taylor lost their May 2023 fight by majority decision but then would come back six months later to win back her titles by majority decision.

The issue with fighting at Croke Park is that scents of promoter and crime boss Daniel Kinahan still exist in Ireland, so there would be hurdles to overcome for any fight to happen there. But if there is anyone who can make that fight happen in Ireland, it is Jake Paul and co., so time will tell if the trilogy materializes.

For now, Taylor appears to be enjoying her time off and will likely not see her return until the first half of 2026.
