Keyshawn Davis vs Gustavo Lemos Fight Results: Davis KOs Lemos (Video)

It was a homecoming for lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs), and the pressure of packing 10,568 fans into the Scope Arena in Norfolk, VA, would have been a lot for anyone else except for Davis. After dealing with weight drama on Friday, Davis knocked out Gustavo Lemos (29-2, 19 KOs) in the second round of their main event fight on ESPN+. That win all but secures Davis a shot at one of the world titles in the lightweight division.

Although Lemos was clearly the bigger fighter when the bell rang to begin the first round, Davis kept his distance with a left jab and good footwork. Lemos was lunging throughout the round while Davis landed some clean combinations on Lemos’ head and body. In the second round, Lemos kept lunging, and Davis caught him with a straight right hand, which sent Lemos down for the first time in the fight. Lemos got up, and Davis rushed him and landed a left hook on the head, sending Lemos down again. Lemos beat the count, and when the fight resumed, Davis landed a left hook to the body and a right hook to the head sending Lemos and the referee tumbling down to the canvas as the referee stopped the fight. Davis now looks to go after the WBO champion Denys Berinchyk and WBA champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

The co-feature was not an entertaining fight, and Troy Isley (14-0, 5 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Tyler Howard (20-2, 11 KOs). The judges scored this one: 99-91, 98-92 & 99-91.

Isley did a great job with his left jab and keeping his distance throughout the fight. He was never really in trouble until the last round when Howard decided to finally turn up the pressure. It was too little, too late, and Isley did enough to weather the storm in the last round and secure his 11th victory.

Abdullah Mason Gets His First True Test & Still Scores A KO

Abdullah Mason (16-0, 14 KOs) didn’t know he would be in a two-round war when his fight with Yohan Vasquez (26-6, 21 KOs) began on ESPN+, but that’s precisely what happened. Mason overcame being knocked down twice and scored a second-round knockout.

The opening round was one of the most eye-opening rounds of the year. After a few punches were thrown, Vasquez landed an overhand left hook to knockdown Mason. He would beat the ten-count and return the favor by landing a left uppercut, sending Vasquez down to the canvas. After feinting a bit, Vasquez would get up and land a left hook to knock down Mason for the second time in the fight. In the second round, Mason came out aggressively and stayed in the pocket even though he had been knocked down twice in the first round. Mason landed a left uppercut on Vasquez’s solar plexus, which forced him to one knee. Vasquez could not get up, so the referee stopped the fight.
