‘Let’s Go to War’: David Benavidez Has A Message For The Runners

David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) is standing his ground. The Phoenix native, who was last seen dishing out an impressive victory against David Morrell and is now set to face Anthony Yarde, is ready to hold close any dangerous showdown that comes his way.

Benavidez was recently a guest on Inside the Ring, co-hosted by Max Kellerman and Mike Coppinger. In conversation, he revealed that he is planning to take up any matchup that comes his way and that he wasn’t planning to run from any fights.

“The good thing about me and David Benavidez’s stock, we have a lotta great fights on the table. You guys know I’m gonna take every single one of ‘em. I’m not gonna run from anything because at the end of the day, this is my destiny. If it’s my destiny to go through these hard fights and win these world titles, that’s what Imma do. This is what boxing is about,” he said.

Following his victory against Morell, Benavidez was eyeing a showdown against light heavyweight superstar Dmitry Bivol. However, with Bivol choosing to vacate his title instead of defending it against Benavidez, ‘El Bandera Roja’ was left looking for other options.

While he currently has a fight scheduled against Yarde, Benavidez is disappointed in those fighters who choose to take the easy way out.

“I’m sick of seeing fighters getting the easiest fights, just because they’re getting the biggest paychecks. It’s not even about money. It’s about giving the fans of boxing the fights they deserve. They’re paying the money at the end of the day. Let’s go to war. Let’s do what these people wanna see us do, go to war, and may the best man win,” he said.

“He’s Definitely Scared of Me”

If there is one fight that Benavidez has been chasing for the longest time, it is against Canelo Alvarez. In the same interview, he also stressed his belief that Alvarez might actually be scared of him.

“The way he handled my presence at 168 pounds, he’s definitely scared of me. I was talking so much trash in front of him. Why didn’t he fight me in front of the whole world? But as you saw with Dmitry Bivol, every time he fights a bigger guy with power, he can’t control the bigger fighters like he does the smaller ones. He sees a lot in me that he can’t stop: speed, power, and heart. He has no chance of beating me now,” he said.
