Lopez vs Stevenson Undercard Results: Bruce Carrington & Keyshawn Davis Score Big Stoppages

The undercard fights supporting Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson set the stage for the main event, and those fights did not disappoint.

Keyshawn Davis Stops Jamaine Ortiz In The Last Round

Keyshawn Davis was all business, and it showed as he scored a 12th round TKO over Jamaine Ortiz with just seconds remaining in the fight.

Davis (14-0, 10 KOs) vs Ortiz (20-3, 10 KOs) was far from a classic fight, as boos rained down from the crowd throughout, but Davis finished the fight in impressive fashion.

In the opening round, Ortiz used his right jab and footwork to create different angles against Davis. Meanwhile, Davis was feinting a lot with his wide stance and was able to land quick counter right hands multiple times. The fight got chippy between the two fighters at the end of the round, prompting the referee to warn them. Rounds two and three showcased great boxing by both fighters, who were using their feet and feints to score on each other.

Ortiz came out firing in the fourth round, surprising Davis with the speed of his combinations throughout the round. Davis did land his long right hand, but Ortiz clearly won that round. In the fifth round, Davis timed Ortiz as he rushed in with uppercuts and right hands. In the middle of the round, Davis landed a left hook to the body that momentarily stunned Ortiz. Seeing this, Davis applied heavy pressure but couldn’t capitalize further.

Ortiz came right back in the sixth round with an aggressive attack. In the middle of the round, Ortiz landed a straight left hand that froze Davis temporarily. Ortiz followed it with a left hook, but afterwards, Davis was able to recover.

Rounds seven through ten saw Davis just chipping away at Ortiz, and in the 11th, a left hook to the body by Davis forced Ortiz to take a knee. Ortiz beat the count and made it to the final round. In the 12th, another left hook to the body sent Ortiz down again, but this time the referee didn’t bother counting and stopped the fight. Davis earns the 12th-round TKO victory.

Bruce Carrington Scores A Massive Knockout To Become The WBC Featherweight Championship

Bruce Carrington is now officially a world champion after scoring a devastating knockout in the ninth round against Carlos Castro.

In the first round, Carrington (17-0, 10 KOs) and Castro (30-4, 14 KOs) exchanged left jabs as both fighters tried to establish their distance. There were many feints along with cautious offense from both fighters.

Castro and Carrington turned up the pressure in the second round as they exchanged left and right hooks in close quarters. Carrington concentrated more on the body attack, while Castro connected with a few hard overhand right hands. Castro landed a big right hand toward the end of the round, but Carrington took it well.

In the third round, Carrington started throwing a stab jab to Castro’s body, which set up a straight right hand and a left hook to the head, causing Castro to freeze. Carrington seized that moment to land a four-punch combination. Castro then responded with two overhand rights to Carrington’s chin, but they didn’t damage him as much as he expected.

Things got intense in the fourth round as Castro hit Carrington over his left ear, staggering him badly. Castro jumped on Carrington but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity. Castro pushed Carrington into the corner, and they traded powerful shots until the round ended.

Castro continued his success in the fifth round as he kept landing an overhand right that Carrington could not escape from. Carrington had a hard time picking up the left hook as well, giving Castro the advantage throughout the round. Castro kept controlling the pace in the sixth round, but in the seventh, Carrington responded with good foot feints. He also did a great job of catching and countering, which forced Castro to reevaluate his offense. Castro still managed to land those hard right hands, but not as frequently as in the previous round.

Carrington regained control of the fight in the eighth and ninth rounds. Carrington landed a pull counter right hand that badly rocked Castro. He followed up with a left hook and then another right hand, sending Castro crashing down. Castro sat up but just couldn’t make it to his feet.

Jarrell Miller Loses HIs Hair Piece But Wins By Split Decision

Jarrell Miller (27-1, 22 KOs) and Kingsley Ibeh (16-3, 14 KOs) kicked off the DAZN PPV, and although it was a heavyweight bout, it didn’t deliver the action fans expected. The only notable moment was Ibeh knocking Miller’s hairpiece off in the third round. Ultimately, Miller won by split decision (96-94 Ibeh, 97-93 Miller, 97-93 Miller) and now aims to face some of the division’s top fighters.
