On Thursday night, boxing returns to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as Eye of the Tiger hosts a card headlined by a Women’s WBA junior middleweight title fight. The champion Mary Spencer (10-2, 6 KOs) defends her title against Mikaela Mayer (21-2, 5 KOs), who is making her junior middleweight debut. (Update: Chris Mannix reported on Monday afternoon that this fight will now also be for the vacant WBC & WBO titles.)
Last week, Mayer’s promoter, Top Rank, announced it would stream the fight card on its Fast Channel in the U.S., as it is currently without a broadcast partner. This is a massive fight for both women, as Spencer is looking to notch a victory over a big name like Mayer on her profile, while Mayer is looking to earn a title in her third weight class.
