SYDNEY – 30 January 2025 – A stacked undercard featuring an exciting line-up of emerging stars and high-stakes clashes has been finalised ahead of the highly anticipated showdown between former unified world champion Keith Thurman and Australian knockout artist Brock Jarvis on March 12.
Among the thrilling matchups, undefeated middleweight sensation Mateo Tapia (17-0-1, 10 KOs) will take on the brash and controversial Sergey Vorobev (20-2-2, 14 KOs), a fighter who has made headlines for leaking sparring footage of Australian stars and calling out Nikita Tszyu.
Tapia, an undefeated technician with knockout power from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, will face his one-time Bondi Boxing Club associate Vorobev, who has become notorious for his social media antics. Dubbed the ‘Russian Jake Paul,’ Vorobev sparked controversy last year when he posted footage from sparring sessions with Nikita Tszyu and Koen Mazoudier, claiming to have exposed flaws in their game. He later took to social media to challenge Tszyu outright, further cementing his status as a polarising figure in the boxing world. Now, he’ll have the chance to back up his bold words when he meets the world-rated Tapia in a 10-round middleweight contest.

“I’m excited to bring this fight to Sydney,” said Tapia. “I know Sergey well. He likes to talk a lot and, on March 12, he’s the one who has to step in the ring and prove himself. Everyone knows how I fight, and this one will be one not to be missed. I plan on making a statement.”
The undercard will also feature the undefeated knockout artist and former rugby league young gun Tonga Tongotongo (9-0, 9 KOs), who looks to extend his perfect stoppage record in a light heavyweight showdown against Sydney-based Haitian Ralph Etienne (2-2, 2 KOs).
Additionally, rising indigenous prospect Sonny Knight (4-0, 3 KOs) will take on Sydney-local Alessandro Grippa (2-0, 1 KO) in a five-round contest at super welterweight, as both fighters look to maintain their unblemished records.
As already announced, the Thurman vs. Jarvis event will also feature Michael Zerafa vs. Besir Ay in the co-main event for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight Title.
Fans can catch all the action live on Main Event PPV & Kayo Sports as some of the best rising talent in boxing take centre stage at Sydney’s iconic Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, March 12.
