Miami Gardens Police Department Looking To ‘Locate And Apprehend’ Gervonta Davis

Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is in trouble with the law again. The Miami Gardens Police Department has issued an arrest warrant against the champ on charges of false imprisonment, battery, and attempted kidnapping, in connection with an incident involving his ex-girlfriend in October.

Speaking at an official press conference, MGPD executive officer Emmanuel Jeanty revealed that the Miami Police Department is actively working to find and charge Davis.

“At this time, the Miami Gardens Police Department is actively working with the United States Marshal’s fugitive task force to locate and apprehend Mr. Davis,” he said. “Domestic violence is a serious crime, and the Miami Gardens Police Department remains committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting victims.”

The arrest warrant was issued in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident from October 27. Davis reportedly went to a gentlemen’s club where his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, was working as a cocktail server and attacked her. Rossel alleged that Davis grabbed her by the back of the head and throat during a confrontation in a back area of the club where there were no cameras. He then proceeded to drag her down a stairwell, through parts of the club, and then to the parking lot. Once there, she was further assaulted before she was rescued by co-workers.

According to the police, she had visible bruises on her arm. This was not the first time that Davis was in trouble with the law for domestic violence. On July 11, he was arrested in Miami Beach on charges of battery and assault on an ex-girlfriend.

Jeanty mentioned that reviewing surveillance footage has confirmed Rossel’s story.

“The investigation determined that Mr. Davis used force to restrain in an attempt to remove the victim from the location against her will,” he said.

“In Line With Our Lawsuit”

According to Rossel’s attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, she had broken off all contact with Davis a month prior to the incident. Talking to ESPN, he mentioned that the police investigation determined that the arrest warrant was direly necessary in this scenario.

“What the police said is exactly in line with our lawsuit. So whatever investigation they did, they determined it was enough to get a judge to sign off on an arrest warrant. The state attorney had to make the determination before, which coincides exactly with our civil complaint,” he said.
