Mike Tyson Reveals That He Wants to ‘Die in The Ring’

Mike Tyson (50-6-2, 44 KOs) has a rather grim premonition about his death.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ is gearing up for what is one of his most controversial yet anticipated matchups yet against YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs). The fight was initially set to take place at the AT&T Arena in Arlington on July 20. However, the fight had to be rescheduled after Tyson suffered a medical emergency aboard a plane. Now, with barely weeks remaining for the revised fight date of November 15, Tyson’s latest statement has both the boxing community and fans worried about his safety.

This will mark Tyson’s return to the ring (in a professional bout) after his 2005 showdown against Kevin McBride.

The fight has been a bone of contention in the boxing fraternity since it was announced, mainly owing to concerns about the aging boxing legend’s health. At 58, Tyson is over 30 years older than his opponent Paul. Many critics have even stated that age might be a significant decisive factor during the fight. And now, Tyson’s new admission has set alarm bells off once again.

“If I win, I’ll be immortal. If I do it badly, I don’t wanna die in a hospital bedroom,” he said while talking to Most Valuable Promotions. “I wanna die in a ring.” Was this merely a statement to hype up the fight? Or will this turn out to be a chilling premonition? It certainly has gotten boxing aficionados worried.

“It’s Bullsh*t Man”

Then there are a few who are openly against the prospect of Tyson even stepping into the ring with Paul. Former UFC superstar Sean Strickland happens to be one of them. In an interview with The Schmo, he did not mince any words while expressing his dissent for the matchup.

It’s bullsh*t, man. How old is Mike Tyson? 60? 57. Jake Paul is 27. You [Paul] are a disgrace of a man. You are the epitome of weakness. You are the scum of the earth,” he said. Strickland even mentioned that he hopes to avoid any confrontation with Paul as he wishes to not “lose his sh*t” and end up in prison.
