Muhammad Waseem vs Jakrawut Majungoe Set For November 29 In Pakistan

Pakistan superstar Muhammad Waseem will make the first defence of his WBA world gold bantamweight title on November 29 in Lahore, Pakistan, against Thailand’s Jakrawut Majungoe.

Waseem excited boxing fans in his home nation in his last outing, defeating game Venezuelan Winston Orono in May, capturing the gold version, of the WBA world bantamweight title.

‘The Falcon’ discussed winning the world title in front of his hometown audience in Quetta and his ring return this coming November in Lahore.

Waseem said, “Firstly I have to thank Allah for winning the WBA title in Quetta, where I was born and raised. That is one of the most special moments in my career.

“I have to thank the Pakistan government, the governments of Punjab and Balochistan for their continued support, my promoter Chris Glover, and my trainer Danny Vaughan for all the hard work they have put in to get me back in the ring in Lahore in November.

“I have watched a lot of my opponent and he has been given a lot of notice for this fight so I expect the best version of him, however, I feel I am getting younger, and still improving, and I will show why I am ready to face any other champion at 118 on November 29.”

Waseem is long-time trained by Liverpool-based coach Danny Vaughan, and the experienced trainer gave his assessment on Waseem’s ring return.

Vaughan stated, “Waseem is a top talent, he’s pushed the best fighters all the way and been unlucky at times. I’ve always said activity is the key, and he’s getting that now. The best is still to come from Waseem.”

The event in Pakistan, which will be promoted by Falcon Sporting Promotions alongside GloveBoxx, Roy Jones Jr Promotions, and MP Promotions is put together by Waseem’s promoter Chris Glover, who gave an overview of Waseem’s title defence and the event as a whole.

Glover stated, “Firstly I want to thank the government of Pakistan for its continued support of Muhammad Waseem. Pakistan is a nation built on hard work, fight, and togetherness, and we aim to portray those values in this event as a whole alongside our promotional partners and two boxing legends in Roy Jones Jr and Manny Pacquiao, and also with the support of the World Boxing Association.

“Waseem needs to be celebrated as the national hero he is, and that’s exactly what these events intend to do. I think the fact that Waseem is boxing in front of Pakistan is great for him as a fighter, it’s great that Pakistan gets to host world-class boxing involving one of their own, when the world’s eyes are on Pakistan. It’s a fantastic situation and I hope that we continue these great partnerships in Pakistan for years to come.”
