Netflix Announced ‘Hulk Hogan: Real American’ Series to Premiere on April 22

It’s a big week for Netflix as the streaming giant hosts Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov on Saturday night. To start the week, Netflix announced that a wrestling-themed docuseries titled Hulk Hogan: Real American will premiere on the streaming platform on April 22.

Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71. He was an American icon and wrestling legend at the height of his career. Over the past 10 or so years, his image took serious hits due to leaked videos featuring racial slurs, acts of infidelity, and outspoken political views during the last Presidential campaign. All of these issues, and more, transformed a once larger-than-life figure loved by millions into someone wrestling fans no longer felt compelled to cheer for.

A month after he passed away, TMZ aired a well-balanced, hour-long show titled The Real Hulk Hogan, in which they explored everything about Hogan and touched on the issues that led fans to turn against him. For Hogan fans, it seemed like this would be the last of any programming about him, as all aspects of his life and career had already been covered.

Well, Netflix believes Hogan’s story isn’t finished, and reports indicate this documentary has been in development since before his death. I understand why Netflix might have postponed the project back then because of the public reaction to Hogan, but now, with his death nearly a year ago, the streaming company felt April 22 would be the right time to release it.

In an X post, Netflix captioned the trailer associated with the docuseries by saying, “Before he was Hulk Hogan, he was Terry Bollea. Uncover the man behind the legend — featuring his very last interview. Hulk Hogan: Real American premieres April 22 on Netflix.”

So, on April 22, will you be watching Hulk Hogan: Real American? It will be interesting to see what the public’s reaction is when this docuseries premieres on Netflix.
