‘The Ring ‘main card is barely a day away, as Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 18 KOs) fight it out in a welterweight showdown at Madison Square Garden. But the question of who’ll win the fight hasn’t surprisingly left the boxing community divided, as was evident with Keyshawn Davis and Jamaine Ortiz.
Speaking to Ring Magazine, the duo expressed confidence that Stevenson would emerge as the victor. While both agreed on the winner, they were equally certain that Lopez would end up being one of Stevenson’s hardest opponents yet.
“I think Shakur will win the main event. I just think he’s a better boxer. It’s hard to hit him. But it’s gonna be an interesting fight. I know Teofimo. I feel like he kinda does perform better when he has better opposition. We’ll see how it goes, but I got Shakur winning,” he said.

Ortiz had previously faced Lopez in 2024 for the WBO and The Ring light welterweight titles, losing to him via decision. While he’d certainly vouch for Lopez’s pugilistic prowess, he is aware that Stevenson is far too skilled to lose to Lopez.
Davis, on the other hand, is a long-time friend of Stevenson, so it comes as no surprise that he’d support him.
“I feel like Shakur has one of the best IQs in boxing. If I wasn’t boxing, then I would say he would have the best IQ. But since I am boxing, he has one of the best IQs in boxing. And I just feel that alone is gonna carry him to the win. Shakur’s entire career, you haven’t seen him struggle with any opponent,” Davis said.
“Gonna Be Competitive”

Meanwhile, both agree that the fight will not be an easy one for Stevenson. According to Davis, there might even be a chance for Stevenson to be beaten.
“Teo is one of the best in boxing for sure, so it’s definitely gonna be competitive. But it can be competitive, and you still could get beat clearly. I think it’s gonna be competitive, but I just think Shakur is gonna beat him convincingly,” he said.
