Omar Trinidad Scores Unanimous Decision on UFC Fight Pass

Los Angeles, CA (October 26, 2024): Celebrated as Boxing’s ‘King of LA’, Undefeated Omar Trinidad (17-0-1, 12 KOs), thrilled the huge crowd at the Commerce Casino Events Center on Saturday night with a dominant 12-round decision over World Ranked Hector Sosa, (17-3, 9 KOs), in the main event of another sensational Hollywood Fight Nights event broadcast globally on UFC Fight Pass.

Successfully defending his WBC Continental Americas Featherweight Title, Trinidad worked behind his piston-like jab to control the early action and sent Sosa to the canvas in the second round with a beautifully placed left hook. Using a strong counterpunch attack, Trinidad continued to beat Sosa to the punch in the middle rounds as the hometown crowd roared throughout.

The final third of the fight saw both fighters trading violent shots as Sosa grew desperate to take control. However, Trinidad showed his mettle winning the championship rounds to earn the victory. Scores at the end of the crowd-pleasing fight were 119-108 twice and 118-109 for Trinidad who entered the ring ranked #13 by the IBF and #15 by the WBC. Sosa, of Buenos Aires, Argentina was rated #4 by the IBF.

Fighting in the toughest test of his young career, fast-rising super flyweight star, Daniel ‘Chucky’ Barrera, (8-0-1, 4 KOs), continued to impress Southern California boxing fans with an eight-round unanimous decision over Angel ‘Rayito’ Morales, (8-2-3, 6 KO of Ensenada, B.C., Mexico. Fighting out of Eastvale, CA, the 22-year-old, all-action Barrera took control of the fight from the opening bell showing his superior boxing skills. With his huge crowd of supporters cheering him on, Barrera would control the action in the middle rounds using aggressive body shots to answer Morales aggressiveness. The final two rounds saw Morales earn his reputation as a tough out as Barrera worked hard with his defense to garner the victory with the closing round seeing both fighters landing shots throughout. Scores at the end of the fight were 78-74 and 77-75 twice all for Barrera.

Undefeated women’s standout Lupe ‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ Medina, (8-0, 2 KOs), of Maywood, CA won a six round majority decision over Katherine Lindenmuth, (6-4, 2 KOs), of Albuquerque, NM over six rounds. Medina used her superior boxing skills to keep the aggressive Lindenmuth from having any consistent success in the first four rounds. However,

the game Lindenmuth continued the pressure throughout, finding some benefit in the final two rounds. Scores at the end of the six-rounder were 58-56 twice and 57-57.

Freddie Roach trained welterweight Gor Yeritsyan (19-1, 15 KOs), returned to action with a fifth-round knockout of former world champion Jonathan Romero, (35-6, 19 KOs). Proving himself the harder puncher, Yeritsyan sent Romero to the canvas in the second stanza. Unable to mount an offensive attack against the oncoming Yeritsyan, Romero was stopped in the fifth round as referee Thomas Taylor called a halt at the :32 mark.

Fan favorite Abel Mejia, (6-0, 5 KOs), of Orange, CA stopped Chicago’s Kevin Mangune, (6-3, 5 KOs) in the sixth round of their super featherweight battle. Mejia was a step ahead of the valiant Mangune throughout the fight landing clean shots in the opening rounds. The fast-paced action that followed saw both fighters sustain cuts during the battle, however Mangune’s worsened throughout the fifth round which resulted in the stoppage by referee Ray Corona at 2:14 of the final round.

Light heavyweight powerhouse Umar Dzambekov, (10-0, 8 KOs), of Los Angeles, CA stopped Eric ‘Pantera’ Robles, (10-5, 9 KOs), of Tijuana, Mexico in the first round of their scheduled eight rounder. The southpaw Dzambekov dropped Robles with a battering left hand and followed up with solid combinations earning two more knockdowns with the fight waived off at the 2:14 mark.

San Diego’s Adan Palma, (10-0, 6 KOs), making his second appearance at Hollywood Fight Nights, made it a memorable one with a show-stopping third round knockout of Carlos Mujica, (8-8, 2 KOs), of Las Vegas, NV. The 22-year-old dropped Mujica with a blistering right hand with the fight being immediately halted at the :47 mark.

Lightweights saw action as Cesar Villarraga, (11-10-1, 5 KOs), of Bogota, Columbia, defeated Sebastian Gutierrez, (6-2-1, 4 KOs), of Oxnard, CA via split decision. Dropping Gutierrez in the third round, Villarraga would be victorious by scores of 58-55, 57-56 and 56-57.

Rising women’s bantamweight star Chantel Navarro, (3-0,2 KOs), of Glendale, CA knocked out Mollie Backowski, (0-3), of Golden, CO in the third round (1:39) of their scheduled four rounder.

Super featherweight newcomer Rodrigo Mosquera, (3-0, 1 KOs), of Las Vegas, CA stopped Benj Gomez, (0-4), of Oxnard, CA. in the third round (1:00), also in a scheduled four rounder.
