O’Shaquie Foster vs Abraham Nova Results: ‘Shock’ Earns A Split Decision

O’Shaquie Foster (22-2, 12 KOs) earned a split decision victory over Abraham Nova (23-2, 16 KOs) on Friday night inside the Hulu Theater at the Madison Square Garden. The judges saw this one 115-112 for Foster, 114-113 for Nova, and 116-111 for Foster, which earned him the split decision. Although Foster started a little slow, he closed the show like a champion.

In the first round, Nova started with a double left jab while Foster feinted and countered with an overhand right. Nova picked up the pace in the second round and found a home for the overhand right as Foster fought off the back foot.

Foster switched to southpaw in the third round, which gave Nova tons of problems and saw Foster land the straight left down the middle. Foster returned to a conventional stance at the start of the fourth round, which favored Nova more than Foster.

In the fifth round, Nova went back to the double left jab, which worked for him as it had earlier in the fight. Foster landed some good counter shots and a few hard right hands to the body. It was more of the same during the sixth round, but in the seventh, Foster landed some huge counter left hooks and overhand rights, but Nova didn’t seem fazed by them and kept coming forward, keeping the fight on the inside.

Foster woke up out of nowhere in the eighth round and started to land 4-5 punch combinations while using his legs and hand speed to get the better of Nova. In the ninth round, Foster began to take over the fight as he landed some big shots on Nova without any answer-back.

Nova started to come on in the tenth as Foster appeared to have taken the round off, but in the 11th, it was all Foster as his corner told him to get Nova. Nova seemed hurt towards the end of the round but made it through. Towards the end of the last round, Foster landed a left hook that caught Nova coming in and forced him to go down, which served as the fight’s only knockdown. It was a solid showing by Nova, but Foster closed the show when it counted.
