Osleys Iglesias continues devastating form with stoppage victory against Petro Ivanov
Osleys Iglesias (13-0, 12 KOs) continued his impressive form with a domineering knockout performance against the previously undefeated Ukrainian Petro Ivanov (18-1-2, 13 KOs). Iglesias’s headline act at the Montreal Casino streamed live on ESPN+, saw the 26-year-old dubbed ‘El Tornado’ pick up his seventh straight knockout victory.
Iglesias opened the IBO super middleweight title defense with the higher work rate and pressure over his opponent. The Cuban, based out of Germany, had early success leading with his left jab, landing sweeping left hooks and uppercuts in the first and second rounds. Iglesias’s dominance and pace continued into the third as the Ukrainian had little answer for the Cuban’s rapid jab and leading left-hand uppercut. Ivanov’s attempts to jab his way into the inside became too futile for Iglesias’s movement in the fourth. Iglesias turned up the heat to end the round with a notable left uppercut and right hook to the body.

The fifth round would spell the end of the bout, with Iglesias needing just 40 seconds to hand Ivanov his first professional defeat. Iglesias put together another stiff and snappy combination, ending with a right uppercut to Ivanov’s jaw. The Ukrainian did rise to his feet before the count but was waved off by the referee under some protest. However, the one-way contest was destined for only one outcome.
Iglesias sits in third place on the Ring Magazine rankings and will rise in the IBF rankings with a view of challenging compatriot William Scull for the IBF super middleweight title. His name gets added to the draw to face Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez alongside Eye of the Tiger stablemate Christian Mbilli.
Undercard Results

Steven Butler (35-5-1, 29 KOs) made a winning return against Fernando Ezequiel Farias (12-3-3, 4 KOs) at super middleweight in the co-feature. The Canadian boxing mainstay was coming off a tough knockout loss to Patrice Volny. Butler put the little-known Argentine down with a double jab midway through the first round. The stoppage followed quickly, with Butler landing an overhand right to end the bout inside the opening round.
Lightweight Dzmitry Asanau (9-0, 4 KOs) continued the perfect start to his professional career with a commanding display over former world title challenger Matias Carlos Adrian Rueda (38-3, 32 KOs). Asanau picked up an eye-catching finish with a fifth-round stoppage against the Argentine veteran in his second fight in Canada.

Asanau dominated the opening round, landing a trio of right hands close to the bell. The Belarusian nearly dropped Rueda with a jab to open the second but ran into a stiff left hand midway. After a wobble, Asanau saw out the round on the attack. Asanau took complete control of the third, laying on his attack thick to close the round. The fourth continued in a similar theme with the former amateur standout impressing with his creativity. Asanau feinted to land a right instead of landing an eye-catching left uppercut. It would send Rueda into survival mode as Asanau pounced with a flurry of right and left hands to score the TKO win with just two seconds remaining in the round.
Local favorite Wilkens Mathieu (12-0, 8 KOs) stopped Argentina’s Marcos Nicolas Karalitzky (8-10-2, 2 KOs) in the fourth round. The Montreal-based light heavyweight ended the contest with a left uppercut to the body following an overly dominant start to the scheduled eight-rounder.
Colombia’s John Orobio (12-0, 11 KOs) opened the card with a short night’s work against Italia’s Jacopo Colli (9-1-1, 4 KOs). The 21-year-old super lightweight ended the contest in 72 seconds following a right to the body.
