PPV.com Announces Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois Shocking PPV Price

Turki Alalshikh promised to lower PPV prices to make events affordable while hoping it would reduce the amount of piracy each event receives. That promise was delivered earlier than expected as today, PPV.com announced that the Riyadh Season at Wembley Stadium on September 21, headlined by IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois defending his title against Anthony Joshua, will only be $19.99 for those in the U.S. This is a drastic change of pricing for PPV events which has average over $70 for the last ten years or so.

A few days ago, Alalshikh told Talksport that he was considering changing the current pricing for PPV boxing, which has been discussed for several years. Dana White has been known to say that boxing treats its business like their “going out of business.” Alalshikh told TalkSport, “People [watch] illegally because the price is high. This is in the future will not build boxing. If I give good fights with a good price, I will increase the fanbase.” This is a great start, as the PPV purchases have increased throughout the year. This will also pressure the other promoters to reevaluate how they price their events.

As far as the card itself, it is heading towards a record attendance as over 90,000 fans are expected to be at Wembley Stadium. The former two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) looks to once again become a champion after losing to the current unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) in August 2022. Since then, Joshua has racked up four straight wins, leading to this opportunity on September 21.

Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) went through a similar path as he lost against Usyk in August 2023. Since then, Dubois earned a unanimous decision over Jarrell Miller in December and stopped Filip Hrgovic in June via eighth-round TKO. Although that win only made him an interim champion, months after, the IBF would force Usyk into a decision, and he would later voluntarily vacate the title, making Dubois the full champion.

With this move to make the PPV price here in the States drastically cheaper, will it result in a boost with regard to PPV purchases? We are only a few weeks away from finding out and seeing who will emerge victorious between Joshua and Dubois.
