PPV.com Will Host Deontay Wilder vs. Tyrrell Herndon on June 27

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is back and will take on Tyrrell Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs) on June 27 in Wichita, Kansas, and streams live on PPV.com ($24.99).

Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs), 39, is coming off two consecutive losses and looks to get back in the win column so that he can once again set himself up for a big fight. When Wilder steps back into the ring, he will be 12 months removed from that brutal stoppage loss against Zhilei Zhang in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

After the loss to Zhang, fans and media members alike thought we had seen the last of Wilder, as during the in-ring post-fight interview, he sounded like a man who was ready to hang up the gloves. Then, just a few days later, TMZ reported that Wilder’s fiancée, at the time Telli Swift, filed a restraining order against the former heavyweight champion due to claims of domestic violence throughout a six-year period. Since then, Wilder has not been seen with Swift, leading to believe that they are no longer together.

Fast forward to earlier this year when rumors began to surface that Wilder was ready to return to the ring and that he was going to be fighting on BLK Prime. It took some time to get finalized, but now everything is all set for Wilder to face Herndon at the Charles Koch Arena on June 27. Although BLK Prime currently doesn’t have the fight listed on their site as an option to purchase, PPV.com does. For those unfamiliar with the streaming platform, it doesn’t require a subscription.

The 37-year-old Herndon will have the tough task of finding a way to avoid the cannon right hand of Wilder and scoring enough offense to either generate a stoppage or a decision victory. Herndon went 2-0 last year with wins over Rudy Silvas and Miree Coleman. His last loss was against Richard Torrez Jr., which was in October 2023 via second-round stoppage.

This should be a relatively easy win for Wilder if he has anything left, but if he doesn’t, we could see a once dominant heavyweight champion be defeated uglier than the Zhang fight. The intrigue alone will push fans to tune in as Wilder fights to keep his career alive.
