Rapper Sexyy Red Posts Viral Video With WWE’s Shawn Michaels

On Tuesday night, WWE NXT raised the bar and, just like that, introduced their product to a whole new audience. The widely popular rapper Sexyy Red was on the NXT show to unveil the new NXT Women’s North American title. Although that alone would be enough to get traction amongst her 4.2 million Instagram followers, the St. Louis artist then posted a video singing inside a car to the song “Sexy Boy,” famously the entrance music for WWE hall of famer Shawn Michaels. Towards the end of the video, Michaels joins in on the karaoke car segment and finishes the video singing with Sexyy Red.

Although Sexyy Red is more known for her music and sexy presentation, it was a leaked video in October that went viral, which put a bright light on her even though it was a moment that she felt “heartbroken” over. Recently, Sexyy Red dropped her album “In Sexyy We Trust,” a follow-up to last year’s “Hood Hottest Princess.”

The WWE is taking unique approaches to connect with new audiences and tapping into the hip-hop world while making viral videos like this one, which is a good way to do so. This would have never happened during the Vince McMahon era, but Triple H has his ear to the ground, and Shawn Michaels is no stranger to creating viral moments. Both Triple H & Shawn Michaels created viral moments before there was such a term while being a part of DX in the late 90s, but now, as people in charge of a product, they are using that same approach to reach new audiences.

NXT lost some of its steam when McMahon took it over, but now that it’s back in the hands of Shawn Michaels and Triple H, these past few months have been seeing the show once again rise to the level it once was when stars like Kevin Owens, Sasha Banks, and others headlined the shows.
