We have arrived to fight week, and although much hasn’t been said about this matchup on Saturday night, the war of words has made it an intriguing fight to watch. Unified super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (61-2-2, 29 KOs) will put his titles on the line against Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV on PPV.
The last time Canelo stepped into the ring was in May when he faced then-undefeated Jaime Munguia. Canelo would score a knockdown in the fourth round but couldn’t finish Munguia as he boxed his way to a 12-round unanimous decision. Although a few names were thrown out there as next opponents for Canelo, including David Benavidez, he opted to take on Berlanga, who is the far less proven fighter of the choices he had. Will it be a mistake by Canelo or business as usual on Saturday night?

Berlanga, from Brooklyn, NY, is going into this fight with a chip on his shoulder as he knows everyone is betting against him to upset Canelo on Saturday night. His last fight was against Padraig McCrory in February, where he scored a sixth-round knockout, which led to him being the mandatory challenger for the WBA version of the super middleweight title. It’s now up to Berlanga to prove everyone wrong and return to NY with the unified titles in hand.
