Scottish cruiserweight Scott Forrest was due to collide with French counterpart Voldy Toutin on the Souleymane Cissokho-Egidijus Kavaliauskas bill in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on December 7, but due to a failed random drug test. Forrest was notified of his opponent’s failings, with the fight being automatically cancelled.
Coincidentally, Cissokho has since pulled out of the WBC eliminator due to injury.
“We were just training away,” Forrest said. “I was feeling the best I have in a long time and I’ve been hungry for a fight because it has been a wee while. I went back to Scotland to get my medical done and I got a message that they have emailed the promoter of the fight that Toutin has failed a drug test! Honestly, I couldn’t believe it after I put in all the hard work. I had been training with Milans [Volkovs] and Bohdan [Myronets], we were all on high because Bohdan has his fight [against Jose Larduet on December 12] coming up and Milans was coming off a big win in London. Sparring was going amazing, then this happened. I was devastated. He’s [Toutin] been given a 14 month ban.”

Forrest (6-0, 3 KOs) was due to have a ten round contest with Toutin (6-0, 4 KOs). The promoter did try to land another opponent for the 30 year old.
“They were searching for some other fighters but everyone kept turning me down,” Forrest explained. “On one side you can understand that they only had two or three weeks to prepare for me, but if they have been training for other fights that now aren’t happening, you would think they would be ready.”
Now approaching nine months without a fight, Forrest goes searching for another opportunity.
“I’m just hoping that maybe there is a show that I could jump on hopefully before Christmas,” Forrest added. “We are staying ready just in case. You never know, someone could get injured and they will need a replacement. I know I’m ready to take on anyone. I don’t care who it is, how many rounds it is or where it is. I’m fit and ready to take on every single one of them.”
