Sebastian Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) is all set to face Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) for their rescheduled showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, on March 28. With barely a day remaining for the fight, Fundora has one message for his opponent: expect a quick and explosive finish.
During their press conference, Fundora doubled down on his belief that Thurman would not last long on fight night.
“Expect ‘The Towering Inferno’ to burn Las Vegas down once again. I definitely don’t see this going 12 rounds, but no matter how long it goes, it ends with me having my hand raised,” he said. “Thurman is a good talker. He likes to talk. That’s how he is. He’s a great champion as well, but Saturday night I’m planning to crash his party.”
Standing unusually tall for his division, Fundora uses his reach to overwhelm opponents with constant volume punching, especially to the body, which could very well wear Thurman down over time. Moreover, Thurman’s history of layoffs and moments of fading late in fights could be seen as a sign that sustained pressure often breaks him.
Fundora’s style isn’t about one-punch knockouts but accumulation, which Thurman will feel by the later rounds, making him unable to keep up physically or defensively.

While he agrees that Thurman is a phenomenal fighter, Fundora believes that his growth as a fighter will prove him to be a ‘hard task’ for his opponent.
“I think I’ve just been growing up and becoming more mature with every fight. I’m getting a harder task every fight, so I’ve been learning on the job,” he said. “Thurman is one of my best opponents for sure. But I have to look at it like just another fight. I have to look at it as my job. This is work for me, and I just have to clock in on Saturday.”
“Hurt This Boy”
Fundora might be expecting an easy day at work during the fight but Thurman believes that he should reconsider his stance and maybe even reevaluate his skillset.
“It’s been a beautiful buildup to this fight. It’s been a long time coming. I’m facing a great champion and we’re gonna make it happen,” he said. “I’m here to hurt this boy. I’m trying to send him home beltless. Fundora gets hit. He’s used to trading and going at it. But I’m here to put that fire out.”
