Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman Fight Results: Fundora Earns A Dominant 6th Round TKO Victory

WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora kept his promise of not allowing Keith Thurman to reach the final bell, earning a dominant sixth-round TKO at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, live on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) pay-per-view.

Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KOs) was too big and strong for Thurman (31-2, 23 KOs), who ended up with a mess on his face from all the hard combinations by the champion. After the fight, Fundora said it turned out easier than he expected and that he didn’t want to call anyone out, since the division is loaded with talented fighters.

Seconds into the opening round, Fundora landed a huge straight left that stunned Thurman. Most of the round saw Fundora leading with the right jab while Thurman used his legs to move laterally. There weren’t many punches thrown throughout the round. In the second round, Fundora landed a quick left hook that buckled Thurman, almost sending him to the canvas, but he was able to stay on his feet. Fundora kept his right jab in Thurman’s face for the rest of the round.

Thurman saw some success in the third round as he landed an overhand right to Fundora’s head and a right hook to his body, which got Fundora’s attention. Fundora began closing the distance with Thurman and was throwing multiple combinations. Things continued to get interesting during the fourth round as Thurman took more risks to get inside and found success with his right hands, but it came at the expense of eating a few left uppercuts and hooks. Fundora won the round based on volume and accuracy, but Thurman had his moments.

In the fifth round, a six-punch combination hurt Thurman badly. There were moments when Thurman landed some huge desperation punches, but Fundora kept coming forward with his offense.

At the start of the sixth round, the referee called time and had Thurman examined by the ringside physician. After looking Thurman over, the doctor allowed the fight to continue. Fundora jumped all over Thurman, suffocating him with pressure and punches. Thurman, looking as if he was running out of options, kept moving around but didn’t throw any punches. Referee Thomas Taylor told Thurman, “You need to show me something.” Fundora then landed another flurry of punches, which forced the referee to step in and stop the fight.

Fundora secures another TKO win, but more importantly, he establishes himself as the top fighter at 154 after Saturday night’s dominant performance.
