Simon Jordan is the talk of the boxing world after his televised war of words with Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs), after he asked him about him accusing Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) of cheating.
Back at his homebase talkSPORT, Jordan was in conversation with Jim White when he reflected on the verbal tussle that he had with Wilder, stating that all he wanted to know was about the latter’s accusations about Fury.
“He’s mentioned Tyson Fury, he’s called him a cheat, so I think it is entirely appropriate to ask him to qualify for what he said,” he said. “He didn’t want to talk about it, so my initial reaction was ‘Well, you are going to’, which to some extent could be considered provocative, because if I were in his shoes, I would have probably said ‘No, I’m not’, and that is what he said.”
Things quickly escalated from there with the duo exchanging words and Wilder storming off. While Jordan agrees that he might have been the initial aggressor, he equally agrees that Wilder’s actions were uncalled for.

Jordan further mentioned that he was not saying that he believed Fury over Wilder; he merely wanted to know his viewpoint on why he thought that the ‘Gypsy King’ cheated. However, he also admitted that the entire altercation left him a bit unsettled and embarrassed.
“So I’m sat there, a bit embarrassed by it, and then I thought ‘He’s a bit of a t*t’, and then I thought ‘Is he on drugs or something? Or is this theatrics?’ And then I came to the conclusion that he’s not right, he’s not well, and all this ayahuasca stuff probably has worked in reverse. It is supposed to make you calm and zen-like,” he said.
“He Threatened To Punch Me”
While Jordan agrees he could have phrased his questions differently, he is certain Wilder crossed a line. In fact, he also revealed that Wilder’s threats weren’t merely verbal.
“He turns it into a debate about oppression. There is loads more that you didn’t see. He threatened to punch me in the face and talked about lynching, and god knows what else,” he said during the same interview. “That looks like a man who’s struggling with things because there was no reason for that reaction. There was no provocation, there was no incitement.”
