Subriel Matias & Roberto Ramirez Are Ready For ‘War’ On Saturday Night

It wasn’t that long ago that former IBF junior welterweight champion Subriel Matias (20-2, 20 KOs) was the “boogeyman” of the division. It took just one night in June during his homecoming that he not only lost his title to Liam Paro, but fans were quick to write him off after suffering the unanimous decision loss in Puerto Rico that night. He returns on Saturday night to his native Puerto Rico to get back on track toward a title shot as he faces Roberto Ramirez (26-3-1, 19 KOs) live on PPV.com.

On Thursday afternoon, the fighters involved with the fight card attended the final press conference before Friday’s weigh-in. Matias and Ramirez didn’t have much to say, but this was a case of less is more as both fighters are ready to put on for their respective countries.

Ramirez stepped to the podium first and said, “As mentioned before, I’ve come prepared for war and represent Mexico.” Matias, on the other hand, lets everyone know that he hasn’t forgotten about what happened in June, but instead of making a bunch of excuses, he would instead let his fists do all the talking on Saturday night. “It’s been five months since my loss on June 15. I want to say a lot of things but prefer my actions speak for me,” said the former junior welterweight champion.
