SummerSlam 2025 Night 2: Preview and Predictions

With a groundbreaking ending to SummerSlam 2025 Night 1, we are quickly approaching Night 2 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

The second night is always considered the card that features the biggest matches, and with John Cena’s shocking promo on Friday Night SmackDown, the WWE Universe doesn’t know what will happen later tonight. Will Cena retain, or is this the moment that Cody Rhodes turns heel and becomes a two-time WWE undisputed champion?

This match is the one that will carry this year’s SummerSlam on its back, not because of what they will do in the ring, which will be decent, but more so, what will happen before and after the match. Cena will get the pop of a lifetime when he enters MetLife Stadium on Sunday night. It will be a hero’s welcome, especially after he switched faces on Friday’s SmackDown. Rhodes may get booed or have a mixed reaction when he comes down the aisle. This will feel eerily similar to the WrestleMania 18 match between Hollywood Hulk Hogan and The Rock.

Once the match begins, Rhodes will instantly become the aggressor, which will have everyone in the stadium rooting for Cena to win the match and retain his title. With it being a “Street Fight”, at some point near the end of the match, the lights will go out and The Rock’s music will hit. The crowd will lose it, and Cena will have a snarky look on his face. Could this have all been planned by Cena to get Rhodes’ guard down? The Rock will get in the ring and just when you thought he was going to beat down Rhodes, he hugs Cena with his smile turning into a mean face and he Rock Bottoms Cena. Rhodes wins the match and has his hand raised by The Rock. Many questions will be left unanswered leading into the RAW after SummerSlam, but the shock wave this will send throughout the industry will be undeniable.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles

This is the one that may be the match of the night at SummerSlam. Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles is giving me all of the Chris Benoit vs. Dean Malenko vibes from the ’90s, where they put on an absolute show every time they faced off. Styles’ job is to put over Mysterio, and that’s exactly what will happen. Mysterio wants to prove to the WWE that he is ready for a world title run, and the best way to do that is to show it against one of the best veterans in the game.

There won’t be any Judgement Day interference as it isn’t needed. These two will light up MetLife Stadium, and when the dust settles, Mysterio will come out victorious and will get a heel/face pop at the end. The fans are ready to get behind Mysterio, and this is the moment where they show him just that.

Steel Cage-WWE United States Championship Match: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu

Although Jacob Fatu is on fire, Solo Sikoa and his new crew are what the fans are reacting to the most. This match is a preview of what is going to occur at this year’s Survivor Series. It feels like there will be a Bloodline Civil War of sorts, so the Steel Cage match will end up being a victory for Solo.

The end of the match is where things will get interesting as whoever is aligning with Fatu will be showing up to rescue him at the end when he’s getting beat down by the Solo crew.

Triple Threat-Women’s World Championship Match: Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky

This match will be a good one, but for the sake of the momentum that has been built, this has to be where Naomi retains her title against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. There won’t be any interference or a referee being knocked out. This is going to be a straight up triple threat match, but Naomi will do some heel moves to ensure that she walks away from SummerSlam with the title still around her waist.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria

This storyline didn’t catch fire as much as WWE may have wanted. With Seth Rollins now the WWE heavyweight champion, Becky Lynch will likely retain her title so that they can run with the narrative of King and Queen of the WWE. This will likely be the shortest match of the night, with Lyra Valkyria doing everything possible to get the WWE Universe by her side. Lynch will continue her heel run, and could she join her husband’s faction later in the year?
