It’s fight week, and we have a domestic showdown across the pond at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, UK. Former IBF flyweight Sunny Edwards (21-1, 4 KOs) looks to continue his winning ways as he takes on the undefeated Galal Yafai (8-0, 6 KOs) for the WBC interim flyweight title.

After losing his IBF title in December against now unified champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez, Edwards bounced back in June with a ninth-round stoppage over Adrian Curiel, which secured him the shot at the WBC interim title. Edwards is still in his prime at 28 and can make a solid run at all of the titles, but it all starts with Saturday’s fight against Yafai.

On the other hand, Yafai started his pro career a little over two years ago, and at age 31, with a deep amateur career, he feels more than ready for this opportunity, even if it’s coming with only eight fights in his pocket. Is it too much and too soon, or is Yafai ready to overcome all of the odds?
