Takashi Nishiyama & Dimps Partner With Ring Magazine For A New Boxing Game

Late Sunday night, it was announced via The Ring Magazine’s social media accounts that legendary video game designer Takashi Nishiyama signed a deal with The Ring to create a boxing video game with original characters.

This has been a great few months for combat sports gamers as the Undisputed boxing video game was released after years without one on any platforms. Shortly after all the attention of the Undisputed release, EA Sports leaked a report that they are developing a new boxing game after they’ve spent the last few years creating UFC video games. With this latest news, gamers worldwide will have their cup full of boxing video games. The unique part of this latest news is that there will be original characters, which can make things interesting and give it a fresh feel.

The Ring Magazine has joined forces with legendary video game designer Takashi Nishiyama and his company Dimps, creators of iconic arcade and home video games, to develop a brand-new boxing game featuring original characters.

This strategic partnership will bring together The Ring’s unrivaled reputation in boxing with developer Dimps’ extensive experience in crafting classic video games. Development of the currently untitled boxing game with Dimps will commence soon, with the intention to introduce a host of exciting new characters for gamers to play with.

Nishiyama is best known as the creator of the iconic Street Fighter franchise – arguably the greatest fighting game series of all time – while at Capcom. He worked on a number of prominent gaming titles such as The King of Fighters and Metal Slug while at SNK, as well as creating Fatal Fury. Since its creation in 2000, Dimps has been involved in the development of a range of best-selling games including in the Dragon Ball, Sonic the Hedgehog and Street Fighter franchises.
