Terence Crawford Is Confident About His Chin Ahead of The Canelo Alvarez Fight

In a matter of days, Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will face Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. This fight will determine whether Crawford has what it takes to claim the throne of the super middleweight division. With the fight date approaching, Crawford is confident that he will not be dropped by any of Alvarez’s explosive hooks and wants his performance to speak for itself on fight night.

Crawford brought in the vibes (and an equal amount of sass) in front of reporters at the recent grand arrival at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. When the question of him potentially getting knocked out by Alvarez came up, he had a befitting response.

“Hey, listen, I ain’t never been down yet,” he said, confident in his unbeaten streak. “They can question it all they want. Have I been hurt? Yes, I have. Has he been hurt? Yes. You know, it is what it is. Let’s figure it out.”

With 41 wins and no losses, it is true that opponents have had a hard time (or lack of opportunity) of dropping Crawford. In fact, he has never been knocked down in his professional career.

However, there were a few fights where his skills were tested and he was left rattled. The most memorable one was his fight against Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2014, which is often regarded as one of the hardest fights of his career yet. Gamboa’s speed and combos stunned Crawford several times early in the fight. However, ‘Bud’ quickly adjusted his tactics and shifted to southpaw, stopping Gamboa in the ninth round.

His fight against Egidijus ‘Mean Machine’ Kavaliauskas in 2019 left him buzzed and even saw him momentarily go down. However, the referee ruled it a slip even though many fans thought it should’ve been a knockdown. By the same token as the Gamboa fight, Crawford regained his composure and downed Kavaliauskas in the ninth round.

Crawford is certain that this record will not change during his fight against Alvarez.

“I think people are underestimating everything about me, but that doesn’t matter,” he said.

“The Dude Is Drunk”

Canelo vs Crawford is barely days away, but it looks like ‘Bud’ might just have another fight invite, this time from the octagon.

Ilia Topuria took to X to call Crawford out for a fight, stating that he will “put him to sleep in the first contact.” Crawford, however, has not taken the callout seriously.

“The dude is drunk,” he said, laughing it off. “You know, a lot of MMA guys, they drink a lot, so you must have alcohol on that day.”
