The buildup to Saturday’s Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) vs. Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) has been nothing short of legendary. With boxing aficionados divided in opinion about the potential outcome of the fight, ‘Bud’ isn’t letting the doubters affect him.
Talking at the recent Grand Arrivals, Crawford had a message for the people who doubted his skill as a boxer.
“Shutting everybody up. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. What one thinks of me doesn’t move me or anything. They can’t fight for him, and they can’t fight for me. Their opinion doesn’t matter in my eyes or my feelings because I have been doubted my whole career in boxing,” he said.
He responded sharply and swiftly when asked what he wished to achieve on fight night. However, many believe that he is taking a major step by planning to go all in on fight night. While Crawford is coming in with an impressive unbeaten record, getting beaten by Canelo in the fight would be a bad look for the Nebraska native. There are many who feel that Crawford is going to emerge victorious, just like he had done at the lower weight classes; however, a greater number of boxing fans believe the contrary.

It should be seen if the weight gain will prove to be challenging for Crawford on fight night. But ‘Bud’ isn’t letting the words of others get to his head.
“I’ve been told I will never be where I am at. I was told that I need to get another job because I won’t ever be a world champion. So many things that I have been told my entire life, and I’m just like, ‘OK, just watch me do it.’ With my self-belief, I don’t care what nobody else says because I’m comfortable in my own skin,” he said.
“Bigger The Win”

Crawford’s trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, has also noticed this increased presence of doubters as fight night draws closer. While many say that Crawford’s weight gain might be a deciding factor, according to BoMac, that is far from the truth.
“I’m not sick of people talking about the weight because the more doubters, the bigger the win will be. I think the difference is the IQ. If you look at Canelo, he has been fighting a certain way for a certain amount of years. But if you look at Bud, he changes his style in the midst of a fight. I think the IQ is going to be the factor,” McIntyre said at the grand arrivals.
