TNA iMPACT 3/27 Recap: The Hardys Return To Issue Challenge For TNA Rebellion

The road to TNA Rebellion is in full swing, and the March 27 episode of TNA iMPACT featured Nic Nemeth vs. Leon Slater. Plus, TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Heather and Ash by Elegance took on NXT’s Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley.

Heather and Ash by Elegance vs. Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley

Cake was set up outside of the ring for Heather and Ash by Elegance. Dolin delivered a dropkick to Ash. Paxley got slapped by Ash before Heather was tagged in. Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend were watching the match backstage. Paxley locked in a reverse surfboard stretch.

Dolin and Paxley set up a Poetry in Motion version of the Bronco Buster. Dolin went for a dropkick on Heather, but The Personal Concierge pulled her out of the way. Dolin nailed Heather with a headbutt before Paxley was tagged in. Paxley hit a crossbody in the corner on both Heather and Ash by Elegance. Paxley went high-risk, but The Personal Concierge shoved her off when the referee wasn’t looking. Ash hit Rarified Air for the win.

Winners: Heather and Ash by Elegance

The celebration didn’t last long, as Dolin and Paxley shoved Ash’s face into the cake. The NXT stars then licked part of the cake off Ash’s face.

Leon Slater Sends Message to Nic Nemeth

Leon Slater was asked how he felt about facing Nic Nemeth later in the evening. Slater said he won’t have a match against Nemeth; he’ll be in a fight.

Ash by Elegance is Going on Vacation

Backstage, Ash complained about not being able to make her birthday wish. Ash said she was going on vacation. The Personal Concierge then took Heather and Ash by Elegance to their hotel.

Chavo Guerrero and The Aztec Warriors vs. Frankie Kazarian and Fir$t Cla$$

Guerrero and Kazarian got things started in a callback to their feud back in 2012. KC Navarro was tagged in. He leaped over Guerrero and taunted in the corner, but he was popped with a dropkick. Laredo Kid was tagged in, and he landed a springboard hurricanrana. Octagon Jr. was in, and he delivered two chops to the chest of Navarro. He went up the top turnbuckle and hit a reverse hurricanrana. When the referee was distracted, AJ Francis sent Octagon Jr. over the top rope, allowing Navarro to land a dive.

Francis tagged in and used his strength advantage to keep Octagon Jr. grounded. Octagon Jr. was then planted by a belly-to-back suplex. Francis knocked both Guerrero and Laredo Kid off the ring apron. Francis lifted both members of The Aztec Warriors and hit the World’s Strongest Wasteland, but Guerrero broke up the pin.

Francis scored Tennessee Whiskey on Octagon Jr. before Navarro was back in the ring. Octagon Jr. was finally able to make the tag to Laredo Kid. Kazarian landed a clothesline but couldn’t keep the momentum going before Guerrero was tagged in. The Mexican legend hit a Saito suplex. He then landed a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Navarro.

Guerrero went for Three Amigos on both Navarro and Kazarian, but Francis shut it down. Guerrero reversed a stalling suplex and settled for Three Amigos on Francis. The Aztec Warriors landed stereo crossbody dives on Francis and Kazarian. Guerrero then hit the Gory Bomb on Navarro, followed by a frog splash for the win.

Winners: Chavo Guerrero and The Aztec Warriors

Rosemary Still Wants Xia Brookside to Let Go

A vignette for Rosemary played. She said that she wanted to drag Xia Brookside into the abyss. Rosemary urges Brookside to turn to the dark side.

Sami Callihan and Mance Warner Share War of Words

Callihan and Warner were handcuffed to avoid getting physical during a roundtable session with Santino Marella. Callihan said Warner didn’t fight him like a man at TNA Sacrifice. Warner said whatever he takes is his. Steph De Lander said she’s the rightful TNA Digital Media Champion. Marella told Callihan and Warner to avoid damaging TNA property. De Lander threw hot coffee in Callihan’s face to end the segment.

Masha Slamovich vs. Jacy Jayne

The two battled for position in the tie-up early on. Jayne slammed the TNA Knockouts Champion down to the mat by pulling her hair. Slamovich responded with a clothesline. With Jayne outside of the ring, Slamovich landed a suicide dive. Slamovich was going to go high-risk, but Jayne exited the ring. Slamovich went for another dive, but Jayne stopped her with a right hand. Jayne then landed a kick from the ring apron. Slamovich went for Requiem, but Jayne countered and scored a PK.

Slamovich rebounded with a rolling kick. She attempted Requiem again, but Jayne escaped a second time. The TNA Knockouts Champion went for a backslide pin, but Jayne popped her in the jaw with a knee strike. The action spilled outside the ring, and Slamovich sent Jayne crashing onto the ring apron.

The TNA Knockouts Champion hit her own knee strike for a near fall. Jayne hit a neckbreaker but missed a senton. Slamovich hit the Snow Plow for the win.

Winner: Masha Slamovich

Tessa Blanchard blindsided Slamovich after the match. Blanchard rained down a series of forearms on Slamovich before being chased off by Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee.

Mike Santana Will Not Break

A video package recapping the feud between Mike Santana and Mustafa Ali aired. Santana ripped multiple posters of Ali off a brick wall. Santana wishes for serenity for things he cannot change.

Eric Young w/The Northern Armory vs. Ace Austin

Young looked at the camera and said, “This is what trust looks like.” He then turned his back to Austin before Judas Icarus and Travis Williams got in the ring. With Austin distracted, Young delivered a forearm to his opponent.

Austin landed a flying forearm on the former TNA World Champion. He went to follow up, but Young caught him in a spinebuster. Williams snuck in a cheap shot on Austin while Young distracted the referee. Austin ducked a clothesline attempt and hit one of his own before landing a Russian leg sweep.

Young was dropped by a kick, but he kicked out of the pin attempt. Austin put his opponent on the top turnbuckle. He went for a superplex, but Young bit him on the forehead. Young then connected with the elbow drop for a close two-count. Austin stomped Young’s head to the canvas. Williams distracted the referee, and Icarus grabbed a hold of Austin. Icarus was knocked off the apron. Austin went for another spin kick, but Young reversed it and hit the piledriver for the win.

Winner: Eric Young

Can Joe Hendry Trust Elijah?

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry went out to the ring and then wondered who his next challenger would be. Elijah made his way out but wasn’t looking for a fight. He simply wanted another duet with Hendry.

Frankie Kazarian ruined the party, and he brought out his bass guitar. Kazarian played a song insulting El Paso. Kazarian said he knows the truth: Hendry doesn’t trust Elijah. Kazarian got a bit too touchy, which led to Hendry and Elijah attacking him. Kazarian nearly shoved Elijah into Hendry. Both Hendry and Elijah sang a tune as Kazarian made his way out of the venue.

Nic Nemeth w/Ryan Nemeth vs. Leon Slater

Nemeth tried catching Slater with pin attempts early. Nemeth went to leap over Slater, but he was shoved down. The former TNA World Champion put his thumb to Slater’s eye. Slater hit a reverse enzuigiri, followed by a springboard back elbow. Slater hit Big Play Slater outside of the ring. Nemeth regained momentum and hit a series of elbow drops. Slater landed a running-high kick, followed by a twisting suplex. Nemeth went for the Famouser, but Slater spun him around for a release Blue Thunder Bomb.

Slater went for a kick, but it was caught, and Nemeth scored the Famouser. Nemeth took too much time taunting and ate a series of right hands. Slater went for another springboard back elbow, but Nemeth caught him in a sleeper hold. Slater reversed and nearly scored the pin.

Nemeth ducked a leg lariat and connected with a DDT for a near fall. Slater shoved Nemeth off the top turnbuckle. He went for the Swanton 450, but Nemeth cut him off. Slater went crashing down to the canvas off a superplex. Nemeth went for a superkick, but he ate a leg lariat instead. Slater then hit Twist of Slate. He went for the Swanton 450, but Nemeth got his knees up. Slater countered Danger Zone, but Ryan Nemeth pulled his leg. This allowed Nic to hit Danger Zone for the win.

Winner: Nic Nemeth

After the match, the Nemeth brothers attacked Slater, but The Hardys marched down to the ring for the save. Matt Hardy grabbed a microphone and laid out the challenge for The Hardys to face Nic and Ryan Nemeth at TNA Rebellion.
