Tyson Fury Believes Deontay Wilder Might Have ‘Mental Health Issues’

Deontay Wilder’s (44-4-1, 43 KOs) recent back-and-forth with presenter Simon Jordan, about Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs), has been the talk of the town. But the usually fiery ‘Gypsy King’ is surprisingly calm about it. According to him, Wilder’s antics might just be the result of something a lot more serious.

Taking to social media, Fury showed restraint while addressing Wilder’s accusations, even hinting that the Bronze Bomber might be dealing with deeper stuff mentally.

“I’m sitting here thinking about all the stuff Deontay Wilder has been saying recently. I got dragged into posting stuff, a video of me knocking him out, and whatever,” he said. “I’ve just deleted it. Rather than retaliate and hate on somebody, this man might have mental health issues; it’s evident to see, and rather than go back and forth with him, saying he’s deluded, I’m going to pray for him and ask God to help him.”

During a promotional interview on talkSPORT ahead of Wilder’s April 4 fight with Derek Chisora, Jordan had brought up the topic of his beef with Fury, especially his accusations of cheating. Wilder, however, refused to talk about Fury. What followed was a rather intense back-and-forth between the duo, with Jordan persisting and Wilder trying to one-up him. In fact, the latter even insisted that he has “facts” and is working on a documentary to show evidence of everything that was wrong about the fight.

Jordan later stated that the topic escalated rather quickly and that he was only trying to clarify Wilder’s statements about Fury, not take sides. Talking about the interaction, he bluntly called it uncomfortable and chaotic.

Fury, on the other hand, stressed that he does not want to get into the drama and hoped that Wilder would seek out professional help.

“He obviously needs the help, and I’m not getting involved in pettiness. The fights were won fair and square, and that’s it. I’m going to pray for him and ask the Father to bring him back to the light. This man is lost, a lost soul, and I beg Jesus to return him to the Kingdom,” he said.

“I Don’t Know Why”

Meanwhile, Fury doesn’t even understand why Wilder is raising all the dust. Continuing his talk on social media, he stated that he had helped Wilder more than hurt him.

“I don’t know why, because I made him a hell of a lot of money, tens of millions of dollars, tough times can make people say and do crazy things,” he said. “I know he’s been having a tough time with his personal life and his family and stuff, so it’s a very difficult time for Deontay Wilder. So, whatever he says, I take it with a pinch of salt. I know it’s not personal.”
