Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) vows to be “more focused” during his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
‘The Gypsy King’ and ‘The Cat’ are expected to meet, once again, for a highly anticipated showdown at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 21. While they were initially scheduled to face each other in October, an announcement was made on May 29, revealing that the fight was rescheduled. And now, with days remaining for the fight, Fury opened up about his game plan for the upcoming fight. Fury and Usyk had initially faced on May 18, with Fury losing by decision. Moreover, he also lost his WBC heavyweight title to Usyk.
Talking to ESPN, he mentioned that he had rewatched their fight multiple times. While he found areas that he could improve in, he believes that the fight was a close one.

“The only adjustments will be on fight night, where I keep more focused and less clowning in the ring,” he said. “I did a lot of showboating, a lot of messing around, more than I’ve ever done before, actually, against supposedly my toughest opponent. I did a lot of f*cking around, and it ended up costing me.”
Fury added that he is always a lot more focused in his rematch fights. He stated that he does not wish to dwell in the past, and he wishes to focus on giving a good performance. “It’s a big fight. Obviously, it’s a massive, massive fight for both of us. And it’s going to be a tough fight either way and obviously, I want to win badly because obviously I want to avenge my only loss. And it means a lot because I get the rematch straight away rather than having to chase someone around for the rematch,” he said.
“I Was Scared of Him”
With the fight date quickly approaching, the duo recently sat for their Face-Off, and Usyk wasted no time taking digs at Fury.
“When I come the ring, I live there. Tyson too, I think. When fighters go to the ring, there is more life. Preparation (makes a gagging sound), training (makes a gagging sound) – watch us fight,” he said. Usyk also vowed to knock Fury out during their fight. Meanwhile, Fury, unlike his usual self, silently sat through Usyk’s taunts. Their fight was also replayed on the screen. This was when Fury broke the silence with a much-needed comedic relief. “I was scared of him. That’s why I didn’t look at him,” he said.
