Undisputed Minimumweight Champ Seniesa Estrada Announces Her Retirement

The undisputed queen of the women’s minimumweight division has decided to hang up the gloves for good. 32-year-old Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada (26-0, 9 KOs) announced on social media that she will no longer fight again and will look to pursue other opportunities.

In her Instagram post, she thanked Top Rank and Bob Arum, who promoted her for the last few years, but something noticeable was that Golden Boy Promotions was left out of the letter.

The announcement wasn’t too surprising as Top Rank recently released the series Fight Life on ESPN+, and it was there that Estrada opened up about the hardships of the boxing business and the toll it’s taken on her physically and mentally. Additionally, she married Boxing & NBA journalist Chris Mannix over the summer, so being a new wife could have weighed in on her decision to retire from the sport.

If you are going to retire, everyone always imagines leaving on top. That’s what Estrada has done, as she will retire as the undisputed champion at minimumweight. She accomplished that feat in March against Yokasta Valle in a fight that was in the conversation for Fight of the Year. Recently, Valle has been pushing hard for the rematch, as she is ranked #1 among all the sanctioning bodies. Now that Estrada has retired, Valle must go on that journey without getting the rematch she desperately wanted.

Estrada leaves a solid legacy in women’s boxing and will continue to contribute to the sport in other ways for years to come. Congratulations are in order to the fighter who had a good career and went by the moniker “Super Bad.”
