USMC Veteran & WWE Star Montez Ford on Veteran’s Day: ‘It Means Everything’

When the calendar page turns to November, it means the beginning of the holiday season. Two in November are back-to-back and widely celebrated: The Marine Corps Birthday and Veteran’s Day. The WWE has had a list of military veteran superstars, but none with a more promising future than Montez Ford, who is one half of the tag team “The Street Profits.” Ford, who is married to Bianca Belair and has a Hulu Reality TV series coming out next year with her, was recently on the WWE show The Bump as they recognize the upcoming Veteran’s Day holiday.

In a short clip posted on social media, Ford discusses what Veteran’s Day means to him. “It means everything, absolutely everything. Veteran’s Day, for individuals that don’t know, is a day to honor millions and millions and millions who have served this great country through overall events, fairs, and periods of time throughout our service and the history of our country.”

Ford continued, “I think I am very fortunate to be a part of this because I’m a WWE superstar and also a Veteran, so I bring awareness to it just by presenting to the world everything the service has already taught me. I think it’s a beautiful thing because it also helps me service to not just my family and the WWE Universe but just the world. Everything the service has taught me I try to bring to the WWE as well.”

Ford enlisted in the Marine Corps straight after high school and opted not to attend college. It was a decision he made out of necessity, and in this Yahoo Sports interview, he explained why. “I graduated high school after doing four years of the ROTC program, during which time I actually made it to battalion XO [executive officer],” Ford said. “I chose the Marines because at that point in time, my mother and my family were going through a few complications, and I didn’t want the burden of having to worry about me on them. I took on the pleasure of going and serving my country for four years, and I think it was the best decision I’ve made to date.”

Ford’s star continues to rise through the WWE, and when the company eventually decides to put him on a solo run, he will flourish and become this generation’s Shawn Michaels. Ford continues to dominate with his partner and bring awareness to a holiday that means so much to military veterans worldwide.
