Where does Mercedes Mone Wrestle Next?

Where Mercedes Mone will wrestle in the coming weeks has been the hot topic of discussion around the wrestling world. The latest development coming from Dave Meltzer was that she was offered a five-year deal for 25 million. He also said that AEW is the front runner to land Mone, which would be a move in the right direction for the company.

Mone is undoubtedly a star in her own right, but she’s had her troubles in the last few years, from walking out of a WWE show and asking for her release to getting hurt in Japan and being sidelined for most of last year. It’s a shame that she hasn’t been allowed to really let her personality come out in character, as she has the potential to be the top female star in any company.

Although she was negotiating with the WWE, she will likely not sign with them, especially if it means that she has to give up her other business ventures like the company Kanndela, which is a form of CBD. The WWE has rarely signed a wrestler who had a company not previously approved by the WWE. Also, with the fan base that the WWE has, having a CBD company associated with one of their wrestlers would be a bad look for them.

Enter AEW, who runs the company with their wrestlers being allowed to earn money outside of the promotion without any questions asked. With their women’s division still being polished, this is the perfect place for a wrestler like Mone to slide in, become the face of the division, and share the top spot with someone like MJF if they can resign him. Mone’s character can flourish in AEW, but the question is whether they are comfortable enough to spend that type of money.

Very few women wrestlers have gained the popularity of Mercedes Mone.

The wild card in all of this is TNA Wrestling. There are wild rumors that they are going to be doing a joint show with the WWE in some capacity soon, which would define the phrase “The Forbidden Door.” That is a wild rumor, but if true, this would be an opportunity for the NXT roster, more than anyone, to get the type of experience from a main show without being on RAW or Smackdown.

Whichever way this goes, Mone wins with all of the attention she is getting. It’s been a year since her debut at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she unveiled a small sample size of what her character is capable of. So, which promotion is the winner of the Mercedes Mone sweepstakes? Whoever it is, the unveiling will be big, sending social media into a frenzy.
