William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) is revamping his fight plan against Tevin Farmer (33-7-1, 8 KOs).
Saturday night, Zepeda will put his WBC interim lightweight title on the line as he gears up for the highly anticipated rematch against Farmer. Their first fight in Riyadh ended in a decision victory for ‘Camaron’ and the then-vacant title. And now, with the rematch closer to home at Cancun and Farmer back for blood, Zepeda is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the fight.
Talking at the Camp House as the clock continues to tick towards the big night, Zepeda opened up about the challenges he is anticipating while facing Farmer and shed light on the game plan he wants to unleash.
“The biggest challenge we have facing Tevin Farmer is that we already know each other. We’ve already had ten rounds getting to know each other,” he said.
While he might have beaten Farmer once, the southpaw from San Mateo Atenco isn’t taking his opponent lightly. Zepeda revealed that his main focus has been to keep training hard during the fight camp. However, he has also upped the ante (and his mindset) from his last training camp.
“This time, we’re going with a different mentality, not to let our guard down. In our last fight, we had a little lapse, but in the end, we redeemed ourselves and won that fight well,” he said.
“Wolf That Steals The Goods”
Farmer, on the other hand, is certain that the second fight will be in his favour. The final press conference saw Farmer confess about being the perpetual underdog and how his wounded self has been successful in emerging victorious.
“Everyone forgets how I got my world title the first time; I had to go to Australia to get my belts. I have been the underdog my entire career, and I have gone into the den and been the wolf that steals the goods,” he said.
