On Saturday, the WWE hosts BackLash 2025, its first Premium Live Event (PLE) since April’s two-night WrestleMania 41 smash hit in Las Vegas, NV.
BackLash will be held inside the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, MO, with a can’t-miss main event as John Cena defends his WWE Undisputed title against an old rival in Randy Orton. These two stars have a storied history, so it’s only right that Orton gets a shot at Cena during his final year as an in-ring performer. This should make for an excellent matchup as two of the best look to show everyone in the back how it’s done at the highest level.
Although the other matchups are intriguing, this Pat McAfee vs. Gunther match will likely be what social media anticipates the most. In the sports world, Pat McAfee has a huge platform, and since joining the WWE, he has been able to cross his fans over to the wrestling product. This will undoubtedly be a match that helps Gunther cross over into a big commercial star, so how this match is executed will be critical to how well Gunther is received by the new fans watching because of McAfee.
