We are just days away from this year’s WWE Royal Rumble, and the momentum wave can’t get any bigger as we head into the company’s first PLE (Premium Live Event) of the year. With RAW on Netflix having compelling storytelling that changed how fans look at Saturday’s Royal Rumble, there are more questions than answers about how things will play out. With the special start time on Saturday night, fans get to enjoy the Royal Rumble at a decent hour versus ending close to midnight.
The men’s Royal Rumble is the event that has the most questions, especially with the recent departure of Solo Sikoa from what’s left of the Bloodline. Does this mean that The Final Boss (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) no longer has plans to show up at WrestleMania, or will his impact be felt at the Royal Rumble and it creates the type of storyline that will send the anticipation levels through the roof for April’s WrestleMania in Las Vegas? Is this the moment John Cena punches his ticket for a title, or does CM Punk win it making a matchup with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania as desired as their big event at AEW years ago? All questions will be answered on Saturday night.
The Women’s Royal Rumble hasn’t received the buzz that it should. There are a ton of talented women on the roster, but it just hasn’t caught fire. Rumors are swirling that Charlotte Flair’s return is imminent and that she will make the big return on Saturday. Will this lead to a Charlotte Flair vs. Tiffany Stratton matchup at WrestleMania? It will make for an interesting ending in the Women’s Royal Rumble.
How about the hot story between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens? They have a ladder match for the undisputed WWE title. KO has been doing some of the best work of his career and Rhodes is right there with him. This story cannot end on Saturday night, and who knows, maybe KO will do enough to win the title with the help of Sami Zayne. Buckle your seat belts as the Royal Rumble will be must-see tv on Saturday night.
