WWE SummerSlam 2024: Live Stream, Start Time & Match Card

On Saturday night, the second biggest premium live event streams live on Peacock as WWE rolls into Cleveland, OH for the 2024 SummerSlam event. This year, the event snuck up on everyone as fans are heavily invested in the Cody Rhodes storyline with the Bloodline and the triangle romance that is Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Liv Morgan. There are some other intriguing matchups that make this year’s SummerSlam, like others from years past, highly anticipated.

2024 WWE SummerSlam Preview

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (*Special Guest Referee match)

This feud hasn’t necessarily lived up to the hype, and something dramatic will have to take place for fans to continue to be invested in the storyline. Monday’s RAW did not help, and with Seth Rollins placing even more stipulations on the match, the oxygen was sucked out of the arena, and it was more quiet than loud. Drew McIntyre has done an excellent job in blending storyline with reality, and his latest stunt of posting a picture with AEW’s Jack Perry made it that much more interesting with CM Punk (Perry and Punk had real heat in AEW, causing both of their departures at the time). It feels like something dramatic will occur at the PLE, so buckle up; it could be a wild ride.

Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa

Cody Rhodes has been the subject of criticism with regard to his title reign, but Solo Sikoa has felt some of that same criticism with his reign as the Bloodline’s new Tribal Chief. This match has been building since immediately after WrestleMania XL in April, with fans unsure if they should be invested. There have been wild rumors of a Roman Reigns return on Saturday, but if he does show up, what kind of impact will he have on the match? Will he still be a heel, or will he turn face? There is more interest in the story than the match, so it will be up to Cody and Solo to even out the anticipation for both.

World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest (c) vs. Gunther

The feud between Damian Priest and Gunther has picked up in recent weeks, but for it to mean anything, the match between them must be great. These two wrestlers are workhorses in the ring, and there is no question that they will leave it all in the ring. It can very well be one of the best wrestling matches not recognized by the masses as it will get lost within the other much bigger storylines. Will Priest’s championship reign come to a conclusion, giving Gunther a much-deserved title run, or will the WWE continue to allow Priest time to elevate the title?

WWE Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Nia Jax

The promos between Bayley and Nia Jax have been good, and Jax’s insults, including body shaming Bayley, have given her even more heat amongst the WWE Universe. As the old saying goes, every babyface needs a good heel for the story to work, and this is precisely the case for these two women. Although Bayley won’t ever return to her John Cena-like character, she is being built for a big babyface run, and the only question is whether she will have to drop the title to Jax for that to work. There is a ton of interest in seeing how this match plays out on Saturday.

Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley

One of the hottest storylines in the wrestling business is the love triangle between Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, and Rhea Ripley. It’s amazing that everyone knows their respective relationship situations in real life but doesn’t care because the story is that good and juicy. This Liv turn that she made on Monday, which makes her into a fatal attraction type of personality is brilliant. This type of turn is what the story needs to get to its next level. Whose side does Dominik Mysterio take? Does he stay with Rhea through Saturday and leave her after, or does he turn on her during the match and go with Liv? Whatever happens, this will be the most viewed match of them all.

United States Championship: Logan Paul (c) vs. LA Knight

This match is all about Logan Paul and him having his moment in front of his home crowd of Cleveland, OH. Although this feels like a wasted spot for LA Knight, he is the perfect dance partner for Paul’s homecoming. The feud has been mid, but hopefully, after this match, both men go their separate ways to do great things.

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker

The WWE has spent months building Bron Breakker into this destructive force ala Brock Lesnar, and although it started slow, it has evolved into something good. Sami Zayn has done an excellent job with the IC title, and although it would feel rushed, this match has all of the makings of Breakker winning the title and becoming an attraction, which would feel like what WCW did with Bill Goldberg in the 90s. Zayn has topped out as a champion and should be moved to a storyline like potentially winning the Royal Rumble or turning heel on Jey Uso down the road.
