Ryan Garcia’s (24-1-1, 20 KOs) father, Henry Garcia, wants Devin Haney (31-0-1, 15 KOs) to take care of his “broken” jaw.
‘The Dream’ is gearing up to make a return to the ring with a potentially impressive showdown against Jose Ramirez in May. Meanwhile, Haney had admitted to a jaw injury after his fight with Garcia in April 2024. In a recent interview, Henry Garcia urged Haney to be vigilant about the vulnerability of his jaw during the Ramirez fight, to not ruin the plans for a ‘KingRy’ fight later in the year.
Talking to MillCity Boxing, Garcia opened up about the injury that Haney suffered during his fight against his son and highlighted that it was something that he would have to be careful about when he faces Ramirez.
“When your jaw looks like it’s been broken, it’s something you have to be careful with because your jaw can only take so much of a beating,” he said. “His jaw was either broken or shattered. You seen it. When blood comes out of your mouth, something is up. Most likely, it’s your jaw. If they didn’t admit to it or hid it or whatever, Ryan told me he cracked him.”

Garcia further mentioned that doctors have to ensure the well-being of fighters and that they have to be stern about disallowing fighters from competing until they’re fully healed. He added that the Haney vs. Garcia rematch has been signed and that they can’t “go back on it.” Moreover, he hopes that the broken jaw will not throw a wedge into these plans.
“We’ve already signed for the fight. It was Pitbull at first, and now it’s Rolly. We got approval with Turki Alalshikh. Things are already moving. We’re ready. It’s been lifted. For Haney, they signed for Ramirez. So everything is set. All I’m saying is be careful because the guy [Ramirez] can pack a punch. I’ve seen him spar before. The guy is no joke, and the guy is what you call a true warrior,” he said.
“I’m Worried For Haney”
The Ramirez fight has also worried Garcia for his son’s former and potentially future opponent. During the same interview, he expressed concerns about Haney’s mindset and his ability to perform when Ramirez pushes him to the limits.
“If Jose Ramirez cracks him, I’m worried for Haney because, psychologically, I don’t think he’s ready for it, for something like that,” he said. “If he gets dropped, it’s going to mess him up. Again, Jose is no pushover. If he catches him and drops him, that’s going to go bad for Haney.”
