Zepeda vs Redkach Fight Results: Zepeda Finishes Redkach In Two Rounds

Jose Zepeda (38-5, 29 KOs) made quick work of Ivan Redkach (24-8-1, 19 KOs) as he stopped him in just two rounds, earning the interim WBC silver welterweight title in front of a good crowd at the Pechanga Casino & Resort in Temecula, CA.

It didn’t take long for Zepeda to warm up, and when he did, a left hook to the body sent Redkach down and rolled around the mat in the first round. Redkach barely beat the count and survived the round. In the second round, there were more left hooks to the body, which led to two more knockdowns and the end of the fight. Zepeda continues his career while Redkach has to consider retirement.

Nathan Rodriguez Earns A Unanimous Decision In The Co-Main

Nathan Devon Rodriguez (16-0, 10 KOs) had a tough opponent in Bryan Mercado (11-6-1, 6 KOs), but he was still able to secure the unanimous decision as the judges saw this one:79-72, 80-71 and 80-71 for Rodriguez.

Rodriguez came out firing in the first round with his left jab and straight right hand. The southpaw Mercado was off balance most of the round as he couldn’t get into his rhythm. In the second round, Rodriguez landed a hard right uppercut, right hook to the body, and straight right hand to the head of Mercado, who appeared stunned and unable to defend against Rodriguez’s offensive onslaught. Rodriguez kept dominating in the third round, although there was a short moment where Mercado landed a straight left that bothered Rodriguez forcing him to retreat. Rodriguez would regain his composure and finish the round strong. The fourth round was more of the same for Rodriguez, who was controlling the tempo.

Although Rodriguez dominated most of the fifth round, towards the end of it, Mercado landed a left hook that rocked Rodriguez back and onto the ropes. Mercado would follow it up with a flurry of punches but ran at the time as the bell sounded to end the round. Rodriguez picked up the pace in the sixth round after getting hit with some big combinations in the previous round. Mercado appeared to be tiring, and Rodriguez slowly took advantage of it. Rodriguez once again controlled the action throughout the seventh round as Mercado’s face was looking worse and worse.

As both fighters gave it all they had towards the end of the round, Rodriguez landed a left hook, sending Mercado’s mouthpiece flying, and finished it with a straight right hand, sending his opponent down. Mercado got up and the bell sounded shortly after ending the fight.

Miguel Gaona Makes Quick Work of His Opponent With 1st Round KO

Miguel Gaona (5-0, 4 KOs) made quick work of Daniel Evangelista Jr. (21-19-2, 17 KOs) as he scored a first-round knockout with plenty of time to spare. Gaona landed a left hook to the body sending Evangelista down for the first time in the fight. Gaona then landed a right hook to the body, sending his opponent down again. As he tried to get up, the fight was waived off.

Santos Ortega Earns Less Than Entertaining Unanimous Decision

Santos Ortega (9-0, 3 KOs) had a big crowd here to see him fight, but the result was a less-than-entertaining unanimous decision victory over Jose Saant (15-6-1, 5 KOs). All three judges saw this one 60-54.

In the first round, Ortega appeared a little stiff, but he landed a straight right hand down the middle, keeping Saant just outside of mid-range. Both fighters opened up in the second round as the feeling-out process was done. Ortega threw wide looping shots while Saant kept bullying his way inside to land some of his punches. Rounds three to six were filled with Saant following Ortega around the ring, and Ortega landed some wide counter punches here and there.

Oscar Ochoa Wins His Pro Debut

Oscar Ochoa (1-0) emerged victorious in his pro debut against Rod Michelle Sarguilla (2-6,1 KO). Ochoa scored a unanimous decision, with the judges seeing this one 40-36, 40-36 & 39-37.

The opening round had both fighters going through the feel-out process. They were gauging distance and testing each other’s power. Ochoa began to break Sarguilla down in the second round with left hooks to the body and straight right hands to the head. Sarguilla did not look interested in engaging after receiving the body punches from Ochoa. The third and fourth rounds was no different as Ochoa continued to pound Sarguilla’s body with left and right hooks.

Jenel Lausa Runs Into Three Blind Mice (Judges) And Loses

Jenel Lausa (11-5-1, 7 KOs) fought his heart out, and even though he was the B-side, you would hope that the judges would score the fight fairly. He clearly won, but somehow, all three judges saw this one 59-54 forJaime Cuesta (10-0, 3 KOs), who had difficulty figuring out Lausa throughout the whole fight.

In the opening round, Cuesta came out firing with his left jab and straight right hand, which followed. He was applying a ton of pressure early, but in spots, Lausa landed some hard left hooks to the body, which made Cuesta stop in his tracks. In the second round, Lausa made some slight adjustments, and when he threw a big looping left hook, it landed, and Cuesta was stunned momentarily. Lausa caught on and followed it with a three-punch combination. Cuesta recovered quickly right before the end of the round. Lausa found a home for his left hook in the third round as it couldn’t miss, which had Cuesta buzzed a few times.

Lausa had another big round in the fourth as his confidence grew. Cuesta could not make the appropriate adjustments to reduce Lausa’s offensive assault. Lausa continued to find home for his left hook. While momentum was clearly with Lausa, he took full advantage of it and, in the fifth round, landed some huge left hooks right on the button as Cuesta could not stop it. Just as the fight was going in Cuesta’s direction, the referee made it about him and took a point away for holding without a strong warning. Lausa did not allow that to affect his rhythm and finished the fight strongly with that dangerous left hook.

Angel Rodriguez Earns A Clear Unanimous Decision

Angel Rodriguez (13-1, 9 KOs) and Freddy Espinoza (10-7, 7 KOs) were in a firefight, but in the end, Rodriguez would be the one to come out with the unanimous decision victory as all three judges saw this one 40-35.

It was non-stop punching from the start as both fighters threw wild shots with bad intentions. Towards the end of the round, there was a clash of heads, and Espinoza got the bad end of it with a cut over his right eye. In the second round, Rodriguez stayed composed in the southpaw stance and used smart movement to land combinations from mid-range. As the blood continued to pour down Espinoza’s eye, he began getting desperate by throwing looping wild shots. Rodriguez kept unloading on Espinoza in the third round as he continued to control the fight. It was a competitive fourth round, but a four-punch combination sent Espinoza down for the first and only knockdown of the fight. With ten seconds left, Espinoza got up and finished the fight just like he started it: throwing punches and caution to the wind.

Brian Hernandez Scores A 3rd Round TKO To Open Up The Night

Brian Hernandez (2-0, 1 KO) wasted no time as he stopped Daniel Perales (13-30-2, 6 KOs) in the third round to open up the night for MarvNation.

Hernandez came out aggressive in the opening round, throwing four to five punch combinations while Perales just covered up with the high guard. Perales had enough of covering up as in the second round, he decided to get in close and exchange in a phone booth with Perales. Although Perales was landing, Hernandez’s volume was overwhelming Perales. Hernandez continued the attack in the third round, forcing Perales’ corner to stop the fight.
