AEW Dynamite ‘Spring BreakThru’ 4/15 Results: Darby Allin Beats MJF To Become New AEW World Champion

What makes professional wrestling stick in the hearts of many? It is not celebrity appearances, the big stage, lights, or the pyros. Hell, it is not even the “entertainment” value. It is the realness, the struggle, and the fight to achieve a goal many dreamed of as kids. It is the storytelling and passion that go into creating these stories and characters.

In a week full of wrestling from a bunch of different companies around the world, tonight, AEW showed that they are here to take over, and if it was not clear before, it is now. On the heels of one of their greatest PPVs to date, AEW Dynasty 2026, days before the biggest PLEs in wrestling history, All Elite Wrestling pushed all the chips in and went double or nothing. Live on TBS and streamed on HBO Max, from Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, WA, ‘AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru’ was the show of all shows. Darby Allin vs. MJF for the most important championship in professional wrestling did not just deliver, it raised the bar of what professional wrestling should look and feel like. But it did leave a huge question: What is next for AEW, better yet, what is next for professional wrestling?

MAIN EVENT: DARBY ALLIN VS MJF

In an opening for the ages on AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru, Renee Paquette informed an egotistical MJF of his title defense against Darby Allin tonight. The pissed-off Champion MJF was soon joined by Don Callis, who he made sure knew he owed him one after Darby Allin beat Andrade El Idolo. To make matters worse, Renee informed MJF that the World Championship match was next! MJF stormed the ring to threaten lawsuits against Tony Khan and Warner Bros./Discovery, claiming a back injury and lack of preparation, so the match should be canceled.

Darby Allin delivered the most powerful, passionate promo with tears in his eyes, asserting his readiness and refusal to let the champion manipulate his way out of the contest. With all the history in Washington for Darby, he would not let MJF take this opportunity from him tonight. Bryan Danielson announced on behalf of Tony Khan that the title match was rescheduled for the main event tonight! This lit a spark under the already fuming MJF, who accepted under threat of being stripped of the title. Darby leaves the ring and guarantees a win with a headlock takeover, the same move that MJF used to beat Darby in the past.

This was by far the best last-second build to a championship match AEW could deliver. Storytelling at its best.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR KENNY OMEGA AND WILL OSPREAY?

In a post-event scene from the trainer’s room, a dejected Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega shared a moment of mutual vulnerability following a night that failed to meet their high expectations at Dynasty. Ospreay, emotional, drew inspiration from Omega’s legendary 2017 Tokyo Dome comeback against Okada, urging his “hero” to maintain his championship mindset and aura. While a self-doubting Omega initially questioned if he still possessed his former resilience, he passed the torch to Ospreay, labeling him the heart of wrestling. Omega, contemplating a final chance at redemption, showed signs of his old self as he paced back and forth before telling the cameraman to cut the cameras.

TOMMASO CIAMPA VS DEZMOND XAVIER

Tommaso Ciampa made a statement in his win tonight, putting on a physical and technical clinic. Dezmond Xavier did not go down easy. He showed the world and Ciampa his athletic, high-flying ability, and briefly turned the tide with a suicide dive and a frog splash. However, A “Project Ciampa” powerbomb and pinpoint knee strike laid Dezmond down for the count. Following the decisive win, Ciampa transitioned from competitor to predator, grabbing the mic to announce his intentions to climb the mountain and seize the AEW World Championship. By calling out Darby Allin and Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Ciampa put the entire main event scene on notice.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa

10 SECOND POSE FOR THE SICKOS

In a segment, the AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR and Stokely Hathaway took time to undermine both the fans and their peers, calling them worthless “losers.” Dax Harwood clowned the crowd’s love for underdog stories, claiming fans only relate to them because they lack the greatness of champions. Big Stoke called FTR the modern-day Goliath that would easily “bitch out” any “Milli Vanilli” challengers Tony Khan might recruit from CMLL or New Japan Pro Wrestling. The segment concluded with a “ten-second pose” for the “sickos” in attendance, effectively cementing FTR’s status as the most arrogant team in the division.

AEW TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: KEVIN KNIGHT (c) VS CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI

In a high-octane encounter that pushed both men to their limits, Kevin Knight successfully defended his AEW TNT Championship against Claudio Castagnoli. This match showcased incredible athleticism and resilience from both wrestlers. The bout opened with a flurry of exchanges and high-impact moves. A beautiful “Swiss Death” uppercut from Castagnoli nearly ended Knight’s reign before it got started. Despite the challenger’s raw power and a Giant Swing attempt, Knight’s agility proved to be the X-factor. A tope con giro and a springboard lariat shifted the momentum. Knight countered Castagnoli’s power and sealed the win with the UFO Splash for the 1-2-3. Post-Match, Knight shouted out Washington and his partner, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, while also making it known he is coming for the AEW World Championship.

Winner: And Still TNT Champion Kevin Knight

FALL OF JERICHO?

What began as a war of words between Chris Jericho and Ricochet quickly devolved into a three-on-one attack that left Jericho on his back. Jericho mocked Ricochet’s bald head and challenged him to a fair fight in Everett. Baldie, I apologize. Ricochet appeared to accept and ordered The Gates of Agony to remain on the stage. After Jericho gained an early physical advantage, the Gates stormed the ring to overwhelm the Legend. Ricochet added to the assault by executing the “Ricosault,” a mocking tribute to Jericho’s own signature move, the Lionsault, sending a clear message that the Rise of The Demand will be built on the back of Jericho’s legacy.

WILL OSPREAY VS CMLL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION HECHICERO

Will Ospreay somehow survived a grueling encounter against the submission specialist Hechicero, though the victory came at a cost. Hechicero, known as “The Alchemist,” systematically targeted Ospreay’s neck throughout the contest. The worst moment was when The Alchemist utilized a punishing Romero Special and a spinning crucifix driver that nearly forced a stoppage to the match. Ospreay’s injuries prevented him from executing the Storm Breaker, so he had to rely on pure instinct and grit to stay in the match. The momentum finally swung in Ospreay’s favor when he countered a triangle choke, powering through to deliver a Styles Clash followed by a pinpoint Hidden Blade to secure the pinfall.

However, the hard-earned triumph was instantly erased by an orchestrated attack from the Don Callis Family and Mark Davis. Davis smacked his former stablemate with a nasty lariat before planting him into the canvas with a devastating gutwrench piledriver. What is next for Ospreay?

Winner: Will Ospreay

WHO’S NEXT IN LINE FOR AN AEW WOMEN’S TITLE SHOT?

“The Toxic Spider,” Thekla interrupted Renee Paquette to address the women’s division and brag about her dominant victory over Jamie Hayter at Dynasty. The tension escalated when NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Alex Windsor confronted her, sparking a heated verbal battle that touched on Thekla’s controversial departure from Japan. After Windsor challenged the validity of Thekla’s status in the division, the two champions officially agreed to a title match for the upcoming episode of Collision. The segment ended in chaos as the Sisters of Sin attempted a sneak attack on Windsor, but it was unsuccessful.

MOXLEY STILL HAS HIS EYE ON OSPREAY?

Jon Moxley spoke on Will Ospreay’s recent performance as predictable before setting his sights on what’s next. Mox pivoted his focus to the rising star Nick Wayne and their eliminator match on Collision. Marina Shafir updated Mox on Ospreay’s “rough” physical state, and he suggested that while he doesn’t enjoy suffering, there is a certain “beauty” in the destruction Ospreay endured. The Champ then issued a warning to Wayne, challenging the young star to compete under the “Continental Rules” format. Moxley then sent a message demanding Wayne leave his mother backstage and prepare for “adult stuff for grownups” in what promises to be a physical test for the challenger.

AEW TBS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH WILLOW NIGHTINGALE (c) VS KAMILLE

This was a gritty encounter that prioritized ring awareness over raw power, pushing Willow Nightingale to successfully retain the AEW TBS Championship against Kamille. The match started with a relentless assault on Nightingale’s shoulder by Kamille. The “American Gladiator” utilized a series of arm attacks and a punishing seated armbar that nearly forced a submission. Despite the significant damage to her arm, Nightingale managed to rally with a massive Pounce followed by a cannonball senton that shifted the momentum. Kamille attempted to re-engage and recapture the momentum with another arm wringer, only for the champion to shift her weight into a backslide pin to secure the three-count.

Winner: And Still AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale

AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH MJF (c) VS DARBY ALLIN

The AEW landscape was forever changed in a shocking main event that saw Darby Allin finally ascend to the mountaintop once again. The stakes could not have been higher, and you felt the pressure through your television screen. Backstage before the bout, Sting provided an emotional final endorsement, telling his protégé that the moment was no longer “Showtime,” but rather Darby’s time. The match itself started with immediate boos from the crowd. MJF gained the advantage by handing his Dynamite Diamond Ring to distract referee Aubrey Edwards, then delivered a low blow to Darby. However, Allin anticipated the foul play, reciprocating with a strike of his own before unleashing a relentless barrage of offense: a Scorpion Death Drop and four consecutive Coffin Drops, one from every turnbuckle, to leave the champion down and out.

In a poetic conclusion that paid homage to AEW’s roots and the history of the “Four Pillars,” Darby secured the win and the title with a side headlock takeover, the same move he said earlier in the show he would win with. As the referee’s hand hit the mat for the three-count, the arena erupted, and the locker room emptied to celebrate the arrival of a new era. Sting joined the party last, leading the crowd in showing their love for Darby and his first world title reign. This win not only cements Allin’s legacy as a cornerstone of the company but also starts a new era in professional wrestling.

Winner: AND NEW AEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION DARBY ALLIN
