Add FightsATW on GoogleIt wasn’t very long ago that Zuffa Boxing CEO Dana White expressed interest in greasing his pugilistic edge to settle things with Eddie Hearn inside the ring. While White may have forgotten about the callout, Hearn seems a little too persistent to make it happen.
Talking to iFL TV, the Matchroom boss admonished White for apparently backing out of their fight plan.
“This whole thing started because Dana White said, ‘Eddie wouldn’t box me. I’ll box Eddie. Yeah, no problem.’ Now, I’m a p*ssy, and we’re bums, and it would go on at the start of the night. No, it f*cking wouldn’t. It would go main event, on probably Netflix, and it would generate, it’s probably the biggest fight out there right now, other than Joshua against Fury. Numbers-wise,” Hearn said. “Minimum 1 million buys. Easy. Easy.”
When Conor Benn aligned himself with Zuffa Boxing, it let loose a can of worms, as Benn had long been associated with Hearn and Matchroom. And in a rather loud example of adding salt to an undoubtedly raw wound, White leaned into the moment and took shots at boxing promoters, including Hearn. In typical White fashion, he mocked the structure of boxing and half-jokingly suggested settling things “man to man,” essentially calling Hearn out.
While one could argue that it wasn’t a legitimate callout, Hearn isn’t one to overlook an offer, regardless of who is involved and what it entails. “30 million”, his voice resounded.
“You put 50/50 in a pot. I know they’re not used to this model, but we’ll split the revenue with the fighters, me and him. 50/50,” Hearn said. “A broadcaster wants to come in; they can take 10 or 15 percent of the pay-per-view. Eat what you kill. We’ll make 30 million each for the fight. I’m in,” he said.
“Put Some Respect on My Name”
Hearn also expressed his displeasure at the slurs that White often directs at him. In turn, stating that the fight might just be an answer to the name-calling.
“It takes two to tango. I’m telling you, he called me out for a fight, and I’m telling you, I will fight him. Put some respect on my name,” he said. “All jokes aside, I don’t like the way he keeps calling me a p*ssy, because I would, I’d fight him. So, we can find out who’s the bigger p*ssy.”
