Fresh off his win on Saturday night against Jamaine Ortiz (17-2-1, 8 KOs), WBO & Ring Magazine junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 8 KOs) announced that his next fight will take place in Honduras, which is where his family is from. During the media scrum after the fight, Lopez was candid about his plans and felt that fighters like Devin Haney and Keyshawn Davis were only calling him out for “clout.”
Lopez was very emotional after the judges announced his name as the winner of the fight. Boos were raining down from the top of the arena, and Lopez addressed the frustrations the fans were showing once the scorecards were read.
“I tried my best for the people. I even tried to box going backward and he didn’t want to commit said Lopez. “Glory is next for me. None of these guys want to fight me. I’ll fight {Terence} Crawford at a catchweight. I’m here. I’m ready. I’ve always been ready. I’m younger, prettier, and a two-time unified champion at 25.”

“We’re talking about a lightweight {Keyshawn Davis}. He hasn’t done anything. Just like Vasiliy Lomachenko told me: If you want to fight me, you’ve got to get a world title. If you want to fight the king, get a world title.”
Regarding who he has in mind to face if the fight is truly going to be held in Honduras, the options are limited when referring to marquee names that would go over there for a fight, so we will likely get a voluntary defense against someone in the top 20. Lopez did not look great tonight, and he would likely need a homecoming fight to regain the momentum behind his career.
